"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome… Huh? Who is that?" :-o
Many artists use stage names when performing, but do you know their real names? Here are some names, and you have to guess which stars they are! ;) Good luck! *thumbs_up*
1) Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta
2) Marshall Bruce Mathers III
3) Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde
4) Charlotte Emma Aitchison
5) Ashley Nicolette Frangipane
6) Alecia Beth Moore
7) Benjamin Hammond Haggerty
8) Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor
9) Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou
10) Peter Gene Hernandez
The daughter should pick envelope 1. Unfortunately she picked envelope 3. Statements 1 and 2 were false, and the only true statement was statement 3. If the check was in envelope 1, that would make statement 1 false, statement 2 false and statement 3 is the only true statement. If the check was in envelope 2, statements 1 and 2 would both be true. If the check was in envelope 3, statements 1 and 3 would both be true.
There's a faster solution:
If statement 1 were true, the check wouldn't be in #1 and also not in #2 (since statement 2 is then false), making statement 3 true. Contradiction.
Thus statement 1 is false and therefore #1 contains the check. :)
A man told his son that he would give him $1000 if he could accomplish the following task. The father gave his son ten envelopes and a thousand dollars, all in one dollar bills. He told his son, "Place the money in the envelopes in such a manner that no matter what number of dollars I ask for, you can give me one or more of the envelopes, containing the exact amount I asked for without having to open any of the envelopes. If you can do this, you will keep the $1000." When the father asked for a sum of money, the son was able to give him envelopes containing the exact amount of money asked for. How did the son distribute the money among the ten envelopes?
This is equivalent to "Can any number between 0 and 1000 be expressed as the sum of at most 10 fixed numbers?"
The solution is the binary system - any number between 0 and 1023 can be expressed in 10 bits (0 or 1). Each bit position represents a decimal number (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512) represented by (1, 10, 100, 1000, ..., 1000000000).
The binary representation is equivalent to the sum of those decimal numbers. E.g. 12 = b1100 = b1000 + b100 = 8 + 4.
So by filling the envelopes with 1, 2, 4, ..., 512 one dollar bills, he is able to match any number between 0 and 1000 (1023 actually).
Edit: If I were nitpicking, there is no solution. The father said "no matter what number" and "one or more envelopes", so he could say "0 dollars" and expect an empty envelope but all 10 envelopes contain at least one dollar note... :P
Yup, but the actual distance is zero. :)
It is easy, but most people are tricked into thinking they have to use some advanced trigonometry (which they would if the numbers were anything but). Allegedly it's a Google job interview question.

His car's!
With pointed fangs I sit and wait;
with piercing force I crunch out fate;
grabbing victims, proclaiming might;
physically joining with a single bite.

You're right, save that there will be only 489 bucks in the last envelope, because the father gave only $1000. :)
The plane was still on the ground
If anyone of you likes Birdy, you might want to solve this "Lyrics Challenge": http://www.gotoquiz.com/birdy_lyrics_challenge (created by myself).
Another one, please...
29 of February?
If we take away summers, winters and spring, what is the result?
Say the answer NOW!!
LOLEN!! *lol*
I mean as a response to the (your) riddle... *dash1*
Today is 1973?
Finally, what is the answer to the riddle?? :|
The "room"?

There's a 70m rope spanned between two poles. The lowest point of the rope is 15m above the ground. The poles are 50m high. How far are they apart?
They are very close. I'd say, the span is less than a metre. ;)
But it's too easy: 50-15=35=70/2
Yup, but the actual distance is zero. :)

What about capslock eh? ;)
There's also a NumLock on the NumPad. :)
Actually, you can kind of go outside. There's a specific key called "Escape" ;)
Mine has a Function Lock key (between F12 and Delete), so I guess you did miss one.
Το ρόδι (πανεύκολο).
I don't know.

Οι κυλιόμενες σκάλες ανεβοκατεβαίνουν, θα το είχα πει αλλά πέρασε και αυτή η παράμετρος από το μυαλό μου. ;)
