The Silence of the Lambs

Nobody knew her voice
Because she never spoke
But inside she was burning.
This silence was the worst thing
Because she never slept.
For years she thought
“Is it really Gods Will, that I bleed
When the Shepard was with me?
And clearly God is silent* as he watches
When the Shepard whispers”

Can you touch me?
Can you free me?
Can you take me away?
It’s getting dark, I’m losing myself in you.

God is great
God will forgive you
God is great
Come, I’ll wash you
(I’ll wash you)

Maria was also in the room
When he groaned
But she just stared and said nothing
And she prayed like always
But she knew
That Heaven is deaf.

Can you touch me?
Can you free me?
Can you take me away?
It’s getting dark, I’m losing myself in you.

God is great
God will save you
God is great
Come, I’ll wash you
(I’ll wash you)
God is great
God will save you
God is great
Come I’ll wash you
(I’ll wash you)

Lay with me
God is good to you
Lay with me
God is good to you
God is good to you

"Gottes Stille" is the genitive case, so it is possessive and means "God's silence."

So the line would read "And God's silence means that he is watching" - as in, he's not doing anything to stop it.

It seems to be a bit of wordplay from "Gottes Wille" since it rhymes and is also mentioned in the line above.

1. In the second "Gott ist groß/Gott wird dir verzeihen" part, you wrote, "God will save you" instead of "God will forgive you"
2. Minor critique, it is spelled 'shepherd'.
3. I'm pretty sure he says "Ich wasch' dich REIN".

For a non-German native, it can be difficult to hear the “r”s sometimes, so you’re probably right.

Yeah, that's understandable. :D The German 'R' is usually pronounced further back in the mouth and has a 'softer' sound to it, especially when compared to English.
