Согласно правилу о запрете призыву к ненависти и разжиганию. Одни разжигают русофобию, другие украинофобию или ненависть к западу.

I don’t know for sure. According to Google Translate (obviously not the best source, but just for a rough idea) it's Russian for:
"According to the decision of the Site Administration, all content related to the Russian-Ukrainian war will be left on the site until the end of the war itself. After the end of hostilities, appropriate changes will be made to the rules of the site - and contraversion content will be removed."
So I guess it's talking about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

So far I see comments deleted and great users banned

А о чём ещё? - how to stop Russian haters, for example. Why Ukrainian loathe is allowed and even praised?
Should not justice go both ways?
And don't tell me rules, it's just Ukrainian rules are working here, I get it.

LT used to be a great community, until....

I wish it would stay neutral, but NO, жовто-блакитный banner was raised and москали were send to a black list

Если честно, очень хочется покинуть эту сайт, но просто не могу вот так просто сдаться.

Do not forget that the purpose of this site is to bring together people who speak different languages. Let's finally stop the useless and even harmful debates about politics, which do nothing but increase the gap between people, and let's get down to translating song and poetry texts, which is what this resource is intended for.

Why can't the moderators just let people communicate (without disabling comments) and ONLY delete comments that resort to ad hominem or hate speech, and ONLY ban members who continue to resort to those things? People who don't want to engage in or read political discussions, don't have to, but you can't really expect these discussions not to happen, especially when many songs themselves are very controversial, political and even hateful. It is only natural that people want to speak out.

One of our jobs is to try to keep the atmosphere well and make all rules be respected. There hasn't been a single discussion in the last few months that has not escalated into offenses and attacks - and here we include nationalist and even racist offenses. And just after one person comes, offends a whole nation, bang, people from that nationality come to say they were offended and will take it to Admins. It's just become a vicious circle, which more often than not reaches 2, 3 pages of the same people saying the same stuff. And it's hard for people not to take part in the discussion if they just flood Comments section and affects a reasonable ammount of our active users.

Not to mention users who make it obvious to anyone that they were banned in the past and are returning just to put more fuel to the already big fire.

We don't like to unpublish or disable comments - and when we need to do it we definitely have our reasons -, but some people just force us into doing that. It's unfortunately the best action to prevent comments from turning into a massive riot and game of *which nation did what in which moment of history?*, which is often happening (I've noticed even collections being used to give lessons on world history and geopolitics - which is not the main subject of LT, but again, we all decided that off-topic comments should remain, so it's really a two-edged-knife). We're not targeting anyone or just implying no discussions should be promoted, but as it seems some people just don't bother with our requests to stay polite, then we have to resort to more strict actions - which of course you're all allowed to disagree with, but just think of that as a way to calm spirits and prevent the community from becoming a toxic place. There's just too much chaos and hate in the world, do we want LT to have those too?

EDIT: I myself have at least once did what you said. I was called a Nazi sympathizer in my PMs by the author of an unpublished comment. This proves that people don't care and that disabling comments, as a whole, is better.

On the main page of this site there is a prominent banner condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
If even the admins have chosen to use the ressources of this site for political purposes, who can blame the users for engaging in heated (and yes, often divisive) political debate?

Sadly, you will find people who are more than rude :( On the net people think that they could spread all the hate, they have inside or they simply think that online everything can be said and that's wrong... Believe me if I said to you how much do I care if a crazy man or woman, that I didn't and won't meet ever called me "nazi" or other insulting attempts. Do the same, ignorate them. For this kind of people don't give a damn. Related to Russian discussions, well Andrey come here and spread all his hate with four accounts, user who thinks that all Russians are in the same boat... or yeah people who have different point of view about this horrible situation, but that's life. Imagine, nowadays, there are still people who are denying holocaust.... All hateful comments, in my opinion, against nations deserve to be condemned. In Russia millions of them are living under brainwashing Kremlin propaganda, so I can understand their reactions. Small resume, if you see that you couldn't mantain a civilized discussion with someone just close the door to him/her or they

Do I have to tell you the same thing once again? I don't need to know a language to act if it's: 1. proven that done in good faith (i.e., disabling comments so users won't attack each other, point fingers, you know what I mean); 2. I'm allowed to do that after a collective decision among the staff (which has always happened). If you think I shouldn't, you need not worry, as the staff knows every instance I did that, and they agree with all the times I did that. Oh, and BTW, several pages/users/comments have been reported to me via PM, including translations of problematic content in question - is that fine to you? Just this weekend, around 4 of them. Of course, you're free to disagree, but just know I'm doing what we decided among us as a team. If you're more worried about me disabling comments than with offensive (and even racist) comments, then the issue is different, sorry...

Also, if you feel I'm doing something I shouldn't, no worries again, we the staff also have rules to follow and two of them actually allow me to act:

Alıntı:

1. Any admonishments Editors and Moderators make should be based on existing rules, or, at least, on common sense basis. /
2. Any controversial actions they make should be based on existing rules or on previously discussed with fellow editors/moderators and administrators.

I know comments disabling is controversial, but here is your answer, I guess.

What I (the whole staff, actually) care the most is the welfare of the community - but some people just don't seem to care about that, and just will say whatever is in their minds regardless of how problematic some things may be. I've told several users to take discussions to PMs, but I feel like I'm talking to a door. My own students in real life behave better than some people here. Then when I act, I always receive *Oh, you shouldn't have done that*, *Juan, do you speak that language?*, *Moderators are overusing their power, I will report to Admins*. There's been a specific case where a user quoted the rules. No one listened to them and just kept on with offensive discussions.

Sooner or later it would come down to this, so here it comes (I'm not directing these words at anyone in particular, mind you): I'm no longer dealing with those, kill yourselves if you want, act like warriors in an arena where the audience is clapping and cheering for someone to be beaten to death, be as crazy and lunatic like Putin, just don't act as if you were offended later. And, obviously, don't ask for intervention (or why users were banned), as none of you will have it. You're not children as far as I know, you know exactly what you're doing and saying. I will wash my hands clean.

I hereby invite anyone to read the thread I opened the day after the war started, here. It was only written, again, after a collective decision - and authorization. Here you'll have all the info you may need.

спокойной ночи!

Dear Dora, I could only laugh when I read that PM. Why? Because that very day, minutes before it, actually, I had just turned in a paper on how dictatorial/fascist governments have affected language policies in the past, in my own country. So it was like someone who clearly and obviously do not know what the Nazi were thinking they'd hurt me. Haha, they'd have to go deeper. People just have no clue about what we do or how we act in real life and try to offend us based on our actions around a virtual community where 99% of the members are not close to one another as far as I'm concerned ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dear, sadly we will find a lot of people who consider themselves alpha male; alias big man :D In some particular case if our big man lives in Russia we would be singing a different tune :D Or Andrey who brags and blusters but rarely knows exactly what is he saying. Sometimes, you could read such kind of comments that can have you in stitches in a matter of minutes. I read it and thinking young man you don't even know me in real life, so call me whatever you want; my answer would be 1. silence or 2. block. As we said in Spain: "Por un oído me entra, por otro me sale". Also, in WhatsApp big group some people, to whom you have seen one time or you only have talked via WhatsApp and you didn't meet face to face, think that they have certainly privilege; e.g you have posted a draw and someone said: "It seems a silly draw, shoddy draw but it's pretty". This kind of people didn't deserve an answer; well just one: ignore them

If it's always the same people, why can't we temporarily ban them until the end of the war or until the political situation de-escalates as Admins tried to do back in February? Why should we allow for this vicious cycle to feed itself?
Personally I'm fed up of seeing the same people babbling and babbling to no avail. They're not even constructive or productive conversations: as you said, it's a pointless insult-race that should have no place on LT. Everything has become so unbearably toxic.

Because the ban tool doesn't work the way some people think. We can only ban users who joined as far as six months and who did not add any content (i.e., spammers - or novice users who had been sent a warning for rule breaking, then keep on doing the same thing). And we cannot hand out temporary blocks, it's up to Admins. However, I did unpublish some comments by Ivan. Also, ask them why Nadia and PZ were blocked, for it was not by us (sidenote: Admins already told it to the whole staff, I can't quote it here because it was in private, but you can ask them). This is why you'll see a very specific spammer opening up threads and we not being able to block them: their account dates from 2020.

[@Anerneq] Exactly. I said the same very thing for other Mods. I don't think anyone will believe, but the staff (Mods) has never vouched for banning anyone who is related to these discussions, our main attention and criticism is towards the discussions themselves, not to users who take part in them (at least, mine is, all rest assured of that). No staff member, not even those who recently joined the team, can say we haven't discussed. We've (Mods) only acted when needed, like unpublishing/disabling comments. As I mentioned above, temp bans aren't possible for us, so this decision always falls down solely on Admins. We tell them our opinions about some issues and people, if they want or not to hand out the block in the end it's not anymore in our hands.

When will Pinchus and sandring be unbanned?
What background do they have that suggests they are trouble-makers or a threat to the site? And what does banning people who have ongoingly made strong, positive contributions to the site do, but take away from it?
