Would it be possible to add an optional "Alternative title" field for songs?
I noticed some cases where same a song was released under different names, over the years, depending for example if it’s a vinyl, cassette, CD or digital release. Sometimes it’s just a minor change (“Paint Work”/”Paintwork”), but sometimes it’s a completely different title. And sometimes the music is actually different but the lyrics are the same, so I don’t think different song entries should be created.
This field could be used as a search hint.
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion, I will forward it to Admins but I'm inclined to think they won't add it. Simply because it's too little content that ends up in this situation you mentioned. I've added 7200+ songs so far and I don't think any of those has ever had its title rewritten in specific (re)releases. I have noticed, however, songs that are better known under an alternative title than under their original one.
Thanks for the suggestion! As Juan already mentioned, this would be a rarely used field, thus we think it better not to overload the interface. Maybe alternative titles can be just added in brackets.
