Hina

{Tap, tap, tap, tap}
{Strum... strum...}
{Pluck, pluck... pluck, pluck...}
{Chant...}

Once upon a moon
O'er a midnight star
Shining in the east
Down upon her brow

We will meet her soon
In a land afar
With a pleasant feast
And a dancing cow

All in honor of...
The Goddess Hina

Chorus:
Oh, oh, oh, Hina
Oh, Hi-hi-hina
Oh, oh, oh, Hina
Oh, Hi-hi-hina

Mallet in her hand
Tapping to the beat
Patterns on the cloth
Speak of history

Strangers in the land
Refuge they entreat
Like light to a moth
We embrace in peace

All in the name of...
The Goddess Hina

Chorus

Hina

{Tap, tap, tap, tap}
{Strum... strum...}
{Pluck, pluck... pluck, pluck...}
{Sing...}

Es war einmal ein Mond
Über einem Mitternachtsstern
Der schien vom Orient
Hernieder auf ihre Stirn

Bald werden wir bei ihr sein
In einem fernen Land
Mit einem schönen Fest
Und einer tanzenden Kuh

Alles zu Ehren der ...
Göttin Hina

[Chorus]:
Oh, oh, oh, Hina
Oh, Hi-hi-hina
Oh, oh, oh, Hina
Oh, Hi-hi-hina

Den Schlägel in der Hand
Schlägt sie zum Rhythmus
Muster auf ihrem Kleides Tuch
Erzählen aus der Geschichte

Fremde in dem Land
Flehen um Asyl
Wie die Motten ums Licht
Wir umarmen uns in Frieden

Alles im Namen der ...
Göttin Hina

[Chorus]

Thanks, Hans. To answer your question -- I guess it all depends on your interpretation of it. With that said, my own personal view of the line is something like the beginning of most fairytales.

Here's a fictional pic of Hina in which I drew a lot of inspiration to writing this poem. Hopefully that helps you [and those reading] get a gist for it all. :)

Right, the picture helps a lot!
But I'd still like to see the cow dancing, though... ;)

The last stanza seems to be written for the refugee's cataclysm of Germany 2015/16
