Yo no sé qué tieni,
qué tieni esta tierra
de la Extremaúra,
que cuantis que llegan
estos emprencipios
de la primavera
se me poni la sangre encendía
que cuasi me quema,
se me jincha la caja del pecho,
se me jaci más grandi la juerza,
se me poni la frente möorra.
y barruntu que asina me entra
como un jormiguillo
que me jormiguea...
¡Y luego unas ansias
que me ajogan de juerti que aprietan
con arrempujonis
de lloral sin querel, que me quean
que cuasi reviento
sin poel revental de la pena!...
¡Me dan unas ganas
de metermi con cosas de juerza!...
¡Asín jundo el corti
de la segureja,
que lo mesmo ha caíu esta encina
que si juesi de pura manteca!
Yo no sé qué será lo que adentro
me escarabajea
cuantis llega esti tiempo tan güeno
de la primavera...
Digu yo que serán estos vahus
que jecha la tierra,
que güelin a ricos
y paice que, asín que se cuelan,
como que arrempujan
de adentro pa juera,
y levantan el pecho p'arriba,
y entontecin de gustu que quean...
¡Juy, cómu me sabin!...
¡Juy, Dios, y qué juerza!
Si viniese ahora mesmo aquí Gorio
y quisiesi luchal una güelta...
¡Juy, Dios, qué Goriazo
le jacía pintal en la tierra!
Me gusta esti tiempo
de la primavera;
pero, ¡congrio!, me da mucha rabia
no tenel una cosa que puea
sacalmi del cuelpo
el comuelgo n'a más de la juerza.

I don't know what
that land of mine,
Extremadura, has,
because as soon as
the early spring
comes
my blood heats up
until it almost burns me up,
my chest swells up,
my strength increases,
my head goes numb
and I feel
a kind a tingling
which is getting me anxious...
And then some anguish
which suffocates me squeezing hard
with urge
to unwittingly cry, making me
about to burst
but unable to burst by grief!...
It makes me want
to go into strength matters!...
I make so deep
the hatchet's cut
that this holm oak has fallen
as it were pure lard!
I don't know what I have
tickling inside me
as soon as this good
spring weather comes...
Maybe it's due to these mists
coming out of the ground,
which smell so good
and it looks like they seep,
looks like they push
from the inside out,
and they make you raise the chest,
and they make you silly leaving at ease...
Wow, how good they taste!...
Oh My God, what a strength!
If Gorio1 came here just now
and he would fight a round...
Oh My God, what a tumble,
I would fall him to the ground!
I like this
spring weather;
But damn! It makes me angry
not having a remedy which could
just remove the surplus of strength
from my body.
