German Folk - Landsknecht Lieder - Ravensburger Heimatlied ( Tradução para Inglês)

Alemão

Ravensburger Heimatlied

1. Mein Ravensburg im Schwabenland,
Wie liegst du schön am Schussenstrand,
Des Obstbaums Blüt', der Rebe Blatt
Umrahmen dich, du schöne Stadt.
Es lacht vor dir ein freundlich Tal,
Sei mir gegrüßt viel tausendmal,
viel tausendmal!

2. Die Alpenriesen schau'n herein,
Zu dir mit hellem Silberschein,
Seh'n sich an dir doch niemals satt,
Du wunderschöne Schwabenstadt.
Du Perle in dem Schussental,
Sei mir gegrüßt viel tausendmal,
viel tausendmal!

3. Weithin reicht deiner Türme Gruß,
Voll Anmut an der Veitsburg Fuß.
Ruhst du voll Glanz in Maienpracht,
Mit Sehnsucht hab' ich dein gedacht.
In weiter Welt viel tausendmal,
Mein Ravensburg im Schussental,
im Schussental!

4. Erfasset mich des Todes Hand
Einst fern von dir im fremden Land,
So wünsche ich nur dies allein:
O, laß mich doch begraben sein
- Drum bitt' ich heut schon tausendmal -
Zu Ravensburg im Schussental,
im Schussental!

Ravensburger homelandsong

1. My Ravensburg in Swabia,
as you lie so beautiful on the Schussen's beach,
the fruit tree's blossom, the vine's leaf
embrace you, you beautiful city.
In front of you laughs a friendly valley,
Greetings a thousand times,
a thousand times!

2. The alpine giants look in,
to you with bright silver shine,
can't take their eyes off of you(1),
you beautiful swabian city.
You pearl in the Schussental,
greetings a thousand times,
a thousand times!

3.Your towers' greeting reaches widely,
full of grace at the Veitsburg's pedestal,
you rest full of glamour in May's glory,
with longing i have thought of you.
Out in the wide world a thousand times,
my Ravensburg in the Schussental,
in the Schussental!

4. If i get seized by the hand of Death
faraway from you in foreign land,
i wish just only this:
O, let me be burried
- this i beg of you this day a thousand times -
In Ravensburg in the Schussental,
in the Schussental!

Comentários do autor:

(1)"Seh'n sich an dir doch niemals satt," is an idiom, "niemals satt sehen" means to never get sated (like beeing sated from eating) from looking.

I didnt know how to translate that, maybe someone can come up with a more fitting translation.

Ravensburg is a city and directly translates to "raven's castle"
The Schussen is a river/stream, so the Schussental is the valley the river runs through.
Veitsburg is the modern name for the actual castle the city of Ravensburg is named after

Hope i could help
greetings,
Purzeltier
