i've just added a new translation as a native turkish speaker :) we say "ağırdan al" for "take your time" if you like me to proofread for you and help you to learn turkish, i can do that :) and because i'm not a perfect english speaker, i would be happy if you do the reverse (?) for me, "if you can" :)

Durust Adam
Annem soyledi ben cocukken:
"Oglum benim, yanima gel.
Dediklerime dikkat, dinle
Bunu yaparsan
Faydali olur bir gunde.
Zamanini al, hizli yasama.
Dertler olur, ve gecerler.
Bir kadin bul; ve ask gelir
Ve hic unutma, oglum,ya
Bize bakan bir Tanri var."
[Chorus:]
"Ve sen durust bir adam ol, yavrum ya...
Anlayabilen, ve sevilebilen bir insan.
Sen durust bir adam ol, yavrum ya...
Benim icin yapar misin,
Her firsatta?"
"Zenginlerin parasi unut, ya
Tum gerektiklerin caninda var
Bunu yaparsin, isteyince.
Multlu olmani, oglum, yavrum,
Tek istedigim sey."
[Chorus]
"Kendini bulursun,
Merak etme.
Kalbini izle,
Yalniz bu sey.

Multlu olmani, oglum, yavrum,
Tek istedigim sey."
[Chorus]

Re-reading this submission, I think I'm going to rework this a bit. The imperatives ("olsana", "gelin", etc) I think would sound pretty strange to a native speaker of Turkish. I'm not sure, for example, that a mother would commonly use the polite or formal imperative with their own kid, but I could be wrong. Likewise, the mother to saying "Sen durust bir adam olsana" seems a little comic. The "-sene" suffix almost makes it sound like she's saying "For crying out, loud be a simple man! Is it THAT hard?"
Neyse.
06MAY13 -- Ok, I think the imperatives sound better now. I'm still not happy with "Zamanini al" as a translation for "take your time". Word for word it works, but I'm not sure that's how a Turk would actually say that. They probably have their own idiom for this.
