Could somebody please help me fix what Google translate had royally messed up? The language is Chinese Cantonese and as you can see from the "English translation" something is amiss here... 海王星神光,賜給我力量 !Hǎiwángxīng shén guāng, cì gěi wǒ lìliàng! (Neptune SG, give me strength!)
😂😂😂😂😂 hey! That's my old account! Ha ha ha!
The jyutping for that sentence is: "hoi2 wong4 sing1 san4 gwong1, ci3 kap1 ngo5 lik6 loeng6!"
Thank you but why does your line have numbers in it?
That's how Jyutping works (numbers = tones).
The Yale version would be "hói wòhng sīng sàhn gwōng ,chi kāp ngóh lihk lèuhng!"
The numbers are a way of indicating which tone is used, as opposed to other systems which use diacritis.
Tones? Diacritics? What? 😵
Jyutping? Yale version? 😵
Yeah... there are multiple methods for transliterating Cantonese (this also for other languages like Mandarin).
I guess so...
I always thought it was my Android tablet messing it up
Google Translate gives the Pinyin for the Chinese Characters (how they're pronounced in Mandarin).
Now Pinyin is a word that I HAVE heard of before!
So the Pinyin uses those accent marks like xī to represent the tones, whereas Jyutping uses numbers instead. It's just different ways of representing tones.
