Hello and thank you for your remarks! I've integrated some of them in my translation. To be fair, I originally did this translation as 14-year old kid (I'm 20 now). That's why some of these translations might seem a bit rough. As a native speaker of Dutch, I'm glad to see you're learning Dutch! As for the changes you proposed:
- I think I might've mixed the verbs "to search for" and "to seek", which would be why I added the preposition "for", but I realize now that that was a contamination 
- You proposed to change "where to" to "where", but that's not completely right. "Where" would be the translation of "waar", that would be a location. But here, we have "waarheen" which implies a movement, so I translated it with "where to go"
- I remember struggling with the translation of "op een kier" in English as a kid, but "ajar" seems better here.
- I love the idiom you proposed of "turning over a new leaf"!
- Now that I've reread the part where I originally put "slowly on", I think I misunderstood the meaning back in 2016 because it's actually "langzaam aan weer verder gaan" as one sentence, which would translated as "slowly moving on again".

"leave a door ajar" is good.
"waarheen" is not always "to where" in English - the grammar doesn't always translate literally between English, German (which I know better) and Dutch. "Seeking a new house - I don't know where," - it's enough and sounds good. You've added "to go" which is OK but not necessary.
The "slowly on" correction looks good and the whole text looks better. Thanks for your work and for helping me learn Dutch. Jij kan zien dat ik moet nog steeds verbetern!

Thanks for translation. I only changed words that needed it. I'm learning Dutch but am not advanced. But I saw no one else had checked it. Besrt wishes
