Ad amore

Era vicino a compiere,
amor, tre lustri appena
e il giovinetto strinsemi
al fianco la tua catena.
Ove città di marmorea
siede fra l'onda e il monte,
cui ne' rimoti secoli
diè nome il dio bifronte,
amai, fra cento amabili
ninfe, la più cruele,
né a intenerirla varsero
i versi e le querele.
Ma quando, ohimè!, recidere
vidi le aurate chiome
e il nome udii di Doride
cangiato in altro nome,
e austera in faccia chiudermi
l'inesorabile porta,
dissi fra il pianto e i parpiti:
la mia sperenza è morta!

I am perplexed. Clémentine Coppolani is definitely a Corsican singer, and the YouTube page states that this is a Corsican song.
But the language is not Corsican, it seems to me rather the Tuscan dialect of Livorno.
Maybe it's the Tuscan version of a Corsican song. After all, the two languages are mutually intelligible to a large extent.

Can you pls check the lyrics listening to the video? I made some changes based on what I was hearing and most probably I made a lot of mistakes.

Yes, willingly, but now I can't. I'll tell you more in the evening.

It’s as I suspected. The French can hardly understand Corsican, so they got confused.
The language is not Corsican, it’s an old-fashioned Italian with a few dialectal Tuscan words.
Clémentine Coppolani sings with a heavy Corsican/French accent and a strange Livorno’s pronunciation (she changes almost all L to R). So the French submitter thought the language is Corsican.
The singer of Barbara Fortuna has also a Corsican accent but his pronunciation is far better.
If you agree, I could correct the lyrics and change the language to “Italian (central dialects)”.

I also made a translation into English so that you can compare it to yours. Do you mind if I add a second English translation?
Please note that the French translation is not so accurate and on some points differs from the meaning of the original lyrics.

Thank you! Of course I will remove my english translation and the greek translation since they are based on the wrong french one.
Thanks again!

But, pls, we don't care about Clémentine Coppolani's pronounciation, she is a great singer! Do not remove the video, pls. Do the changes you want, I trust you of course, you are the expert here. But do not remove the video.Thanks.

No, I won't, of course. Her voice is beautiful, no matter her pronunciation Regular smile

Your translation is not totally wrong, you can keep it and change a few things.

florboxflorbox    Joi, 23/06/2022 - 18:17

Btw...r is not pronounced in " a french way". I haven't ever heard a French pronouncing r like this Tongue smile Perhaps this alteration of l to r, has to to with Corsican dialect. It can be explained phonologically, they are both liquid consonants. And if the Corsicans prefer it that way, perhaps we should leave it like this. Do not "italianize" it.

HampsicoraHampsicora    Joi, 23/06/2022 - 18:20

It's a typical feature of the Livornese dialect, not of Corsican. I don't know why she pronounces like this.

florboxflorbox    Joi, 23/06/2022 - 23:14

It's not a matter of promoumciation. I believe is another version of the well known song in some other language variation / dialect. It's not that she ..cannot pronoumce.."l" ( who cannot pronounce l btw). She chooses to do that because this song is apparently sung like that by a certain group of people, a language community.

No, believe me, it's just a phonetic accident. The song is in Italian, just a bit dialectal.
