Dimitris Mitropanos - Dromologio (Δρομολόγιο) (traducere în Engleză)

πώς πέρασαν τα χρόνια;

One night we mounted a fiesta
on marble threshing floors,
behind forged bars
the snow caught up with us
We changed frequency
with broken wings,
caught in wheel revolvements
caged birds
Some double-cutting songs
became our burden
like lobster shifts*
in an endless muster
Inside the bosom the grieves fire up
and the flames of the anvils,
in the same old itinerary;
how did the years pass?
With “let be crucified” and “hosanna”
the world is going forth
I enter your galaxy
and earth doesn’t fit me (anymore)

Comentariile autorului:

*Lobster was the american name for british soldiers in the 18th century (because of their red uniform), and thus lobster shift the hard night shift. In greek the song literally says “german shift” which means the same and has a resembling origin and it is used in this context as metaphor for hard and unpleasant work
