Why Learn Polish?

Hi,
I'm a half-Polish half-Irish teenager, and have been learning Polish since birth. Growing up, I recall loathing the language and refusing to use it even when we were visiting my Polish relatives. Nowadays, I'm more open to the language, and speak it fluently, but I can't help but wonder -

Why do foreigners (people with no Polish roots) decide to learn Polish? Why does it appeal to you, why did you decide to take up learning it?

Thank you! :)

Hi,
I'm Italian and I'm not learning Polish at the moment (because I don't have enough time; I hope I will in the future). However, I'd love to learn it. I just love the sound of the Polish language (I listen to some Polish artists) and the way it's written.
I actually tried to learn it by myself, but it's pretty different from Italian and more complex than I thought. I hope I'll have more time to study it.
I just think it's a very beautiful language.

Hi, I'm Italian too. I really like languages, before Polish I tried learning German and Danish by myself but they didn't really captured my attention. Then, one day, I saw on TV a Polish channel (I had a satellite TV back then) and fell in love with it. I had to learn it by myself because such languages are not taught in school, but at the same time I couldn't study it because of school, so even if I've been studying it for 5 years, I still have a limited knowledge, but as I've graduated from high school some weeks ago, I intend to take back all the lost time. What I liked first about Polish was its writing system: it all seemed like a strange code and I like languages because they prevent me to be understood by the others, so I started learning it because it's very difficult to understand if you don't know it. Plus I like how it sound, it's very sweet and musical and it helps me to understand other slavic languages because the coolest thing about it is that Poles can understand other Slavic people but the same can't be told for the rest of Slavic people. That's what I like about it

Hi , I am from Bulgaria . When I have enough time I would learn Polish because :
I like it . Our languages are in the same group and I would like to learn Polish and Czech . They are closer to the old Bulgarian and I want to know how the language was developing through the centuries . I hear almost forgotten Bulgarian words when I`m watching video in Polish or in Czech. My advise , please, study that beautiful language as you have a chance to study it well. You have such opportunity. Don`t miss it!

At the age of 14, I discovered Magdalena Tul and with her my interest in Poland began. It was because of her song, Jestem started learning Polish. Now I have been in Poland four times and want to study there in the future.

Hi tanyas2882 - thanks for your response, but the question was why do foreigners learn Polish, not how :)

I am from Ukraine. And Polish language is probably the closest to Ukrainian among non-Eastern Slavic languages. This similarity looks very cute and causes smile on my face. That's why I like Polish language :)

Hi! I'm from Montenegro, my native language is Serbian.
I learn Polish because I visited Poland once and I loved absolutely everything about the country! Warm people, good restaurants, excellent wodka ;)
Polish language was somehow strange for me, it was Slavic but I didn't really understand it. That's why I decided to start learning it. Firstly because of my couriosity.
As it's around 50% intelligible with Serbian, I achieved very good results and I'm looking forward to speak Polish fluently ;)
Best regards!
Stefan
