חורשת האקליפטוס
כשאמא באה הנה יפה וצעירה,
אז אבא על גבעה בנה לה בית.
חלפו האביבים, חצי מאה עברה
ותלתלים הפכו שיבה בינתיים.
אבל על חוף ירדן כמו מאומה לא קרה,
אותה הדומיה וגם אותה התפאורה:
חורשת האקליפטוס, הגשר, הסירה
וריח המלוח על המים.
מעבר לירדן רעמו התותחים
והשלום חזר בסוף הקיץ
וכל התינוקות הפכו לאנשים
ושוב על הגבעה הקימו בית.
אבל על חוף ירדן כמו מאומה לא קרה,
אותה הדומיה וגם אותה התפאורה:
חורשת האקליפטוס, הגשר, הסירה
וריח המלוח על המים.

When mother came here, pretty and young
Then father built her a house on a hill
The springtimes passed, half a century went by
And curls turned grey in the meantime

The Eucalyptus grove, the bridge, the boat
And the smell of the saltbush on the water
Across the Jordan [river] the cannons thundered
And peace returned at the end of the summer
And all of the babies became men
And again on the hill they built a house
