Why do you do that?
This makes no sense
Why do you dream?
Is it even important?
Hey how can you
be that retarded?
Far too emotional [1]
Step back a bit [1]
Why do you want to spoil the mood?
I'm raising my eyebrow at you
Just say if this feels wrong to you
Although I maybe should already be upset
I just need to understand [3]
Tell me what is too much
How much can one love? [1]
Is there a sense in it? Not at all.
One should maybe just forget it
Is there something left if one gives it all?
How much can one love?
How much can one love?
Totally calm
Even though I'm alive
And those tremors in my body [4]
should be forbidden [4]
These dumb mistakes
in making decisions
I should try
But I can't, can't, can't
Why do you want to spoil the mood?
I'm raising my eyebrow at you
Just say if this feels wrong to you
Although I maybe should already be upset
I just need to understand [3]
Tell me what is too much
How much can one love?
Is there a sense in it? Not at all.
One should maybe just forget it
Is there something left if one gives it all?
How much can one love?
How much can one love?
Do you know what haunts you?
What it is, that is on your mind? [5]
Just constant whining
Something puts strain on you [6]
I feel the urge to shake you
to get you to understand:
Hey, there's no limit!
How much can one love?
Is there a sense in it? Not at all.
One should maybe just forget it
Is there something left if one gives it all?
How much can one love?
How much can one love?
[1] In Finnish, it is possible to construct sentences which are extremely vague about the subject. I'll generally translate this into "one", but I want to point out that there is no clue if the author speaks to/about himself, to/about someone else or generally.
[2] -
[3] According to urbaanisanakirja.com "fiilata" (youth slang) could also mean "to have sex".
[4] The original structure of this sentence can't reproduced in English, thus, I'll change the order of these two lines.
[5] Literally: "Where does your shoe pinch?"
[6] Literally: "Just pulls on your necktie"/"Just strangles your with your necktie"
I'm thankful for every comment - I consider myself to be fluent / more-or-less-native in Finnish, but I'm lacking sufficient knowledge of idioms as I only really started to learn the language as a teenager.
