On the little ranch
I saw you passing by one afternoon
and as of then you've been in my heart,
you are the light that illuminates me
like the moon illuminates the sky.
If you want to be with me, I'll take you to the ranch
I have pumpkins and corn, there's beans and watermelons,
let's bring them so you can sell them at the market.
In my ranch you will never go hungry,
you'll have your pigs, chickens and turkeys,
I'll speak with your father and mother,
my dear I'll do everything you want.
If you want to be with me, I'll take you to the ranch
I have chili peppers, tomatoes and epazote
I have pumpkins and corn, there's beans and watermelons,
let's bring them so you can sell them at the market.
Here you have a man
who will buy you a necklace, earrings and a ring
for you to wear and flaunt them when you go home
and to show your mother what you already have.
If you want to be with me, I'll take you to the ranch
in my ranch you will never go hungry,
I have pumpkins and corn, there's beans and watermelons,
let's bring them so you can give them to your mother as a present.
- 1. lat. 'Dysphania ambrosioides' is an herb heavily used in Mexico in a variety of dishes. The word is derived from the Nahuatl word epazōtl (pr. eˈpasoːt͡ɬ) which translates to skunk sweat.
- 2. My mother would kill me if I didn't know how to cultivate it and use it in dishes, we cherish it greatly in my family.

Comentariile autorului:
Based on the Spanish translation. The song reminds me of two others in Zapotec called Bádu dxaapa huiini sicarú (lit. "beautiful little girl") and Bádudxaapa' soo (Tall Girl).
