Sügispäev

Nii mõõtmatu on taevaavarus,
ta sügisene sinav kõle karv.
Seal pikkamisi sõuab linnuparv.
Oh, vabadus.

See rännuhõike metsik igatsus
Su kõrvu kauaks kisendama jääb.
Siis pilvepõhja kustub seegi hääl.
Oh, vabadus.

Pilk pööra ära, vangla piiratus,
Su osaks on mu unenägu vaid.
Mis peagi kaob all hangis sügaval.
Oh, vabadus.

Autumn Day

So vast is the empty sky,
Its autumny hue of bleak blue.
Up there, a flock of birds slowly rowing.
Oh, freedom.

The uttermost longing of the wild cry
Will stay screaming in your ears for a while
Then, even that fades in the clouds.
Oh, freedom.

Turn your face away, prison boundaries,
Only thing you have is my dream.
Which soon dissapears into oblivion.
Oh, freedom.

Comentariile autorului:

This one was a toughy to translate because of the subtleness delicateness of some of the words used in this poem. Really masterclass poetry.

The song describes a unsurpressable yearn for freedom, written by a Finnish poet, but made into this song by an Estonian.
