Shardana

• 1. The Nuragic civilization rose in Sardinia in the 18th century BC and lasted until the 9th century and still, in decline, until the Christian era.
• 2. Sidi Babay: “Sir Father” in Nuragic language (Sid Addir in Carthaginian-Phoenician language and Sardus Pater in Latin) was the supreme deity of the ancient Nuragic pantheon.
  A temple dedicated to him is located in Antas, near Iglesias, in southwestern Sardinia.
• 3. Nuraghes: prehistoric stone towers. There are still many thousands of nuraghes in Sardinia.
• 4. Domos de janas: prehistoric burials (about 3000 BC) .
• 5. Shardana: Probably the most ancient ethnonym of the Sardinian people.
  The word Sh·r·d·n appears in some Egyptian clay tablets and later in some Syriac writings. Its vocalization is uncertain. They were expert sailors and were also called Sea People, and were known as bold warriors, sometimes mercenary fighting against or in the service of the Egyptians and of their enemies Hittites. The period of their presence coincides with that of the Nuragic civilization.
• 6. Sinis: a small peninsula near Oristano, in western Sardinia. In that place 20 giant stone statues were discovered, cut to pieces and buried in the sand, dating to the time of the Nuragic civilization. The statues were even preceding the Greek sculptures and subsequent only to those of the Egyptian civilization. This important discovery was neglected and hidden for decades in the basements of museums and publicly concealed.
