Dear old Abe has been forgotten
Faceless form he has today begotten
No forms of memory touch the beholder
He lifted the burden from slaves' shoulder
His words graced Gettysburg's hallowed field
But nothing from this crop shall yield
His life forfeited now incorporal being
Each moment flows by, all hope is fleeing
A terrible fate I fear awaits in store
His greatness will be remembered no more
Perhaps I am wrong I do not know
He is alive yet he lived so long ago
