Where the jury come from. It was three men tribunal and against the wall. No court no jury just a bullet in the back of the head

NKVD came later. I think what she is describin is the years of the civil war, when Felix Dzerzhynsky( the butcher) was in charge of Cheka ( special comission)

I do know something about those times. My dad was assistant district attorney after the Civil war. The area was full of criminal gangs. He didn't like to talk about those times. He also spend 10 years in the prison camp. They were building Volga-Don chanel(supposedly build by Comsomol members)
Actually it was build by prisoners and they were dying there like flyes.

To tell you the truth, I don't really care. Too many people I knew were hurt by NKVD, Cheka, KGB,MVD and like in that joke attributed to Russian comedian Nikulin: when someone asked what branch he belongs to, he simply answered- ABVGD

Well, to make the translation fully singable there are only 2 spots to tweak:
1. "ice cold brandy" should be "icy cold brandy"
2. "I’m a bar lounge fairy" should become smth. like "I am a lounge fairy"

"Ice cold" makes 2 syllables when you need 3 to have a line of 10 ones. ;)

Суд присяжных был отменен в конце 1917 года (Декрет о суде 28.11.1917 г.). Трибунал - это несколько иное... В нем дела рассматривались в ускоренном порядке. Вот о нем речь в песне. Революционный трибунал существовал в 1918-1923 годах. Смертная казнь была отменена 26.10.1917 г.. Теоретически, конечно, могли казнить отца проститутки из песни судом присяжных... Но чтоб за месяц собрали все материал и рассмотрели их в суде присяжных... И в наше относительно спокойное время это невозможно. В первое время, когда в результате революции советская власть победила, сопротивление со стороны белых было минимальным. 15 января 1918 г. В. И. Ленин подписал декрет о создании Красной армии, 29 января - Красного флота. Вот тогда примерно и началась более активная фаза белого движения. К этому моменту никаких судов присяжных уже не было. Поэтому переводить - from the Jury - это искажение...

Вот еще одна деталь... "Но для белых он сделал немало..." Т.е. за условный месяц сделать немало сложно ) Хотя могла же и преувеличивать, набивать себе этим цену )

А донской рубль действительно ходил в 1918-1920 годах ) Так что исторически она пела примерно в это же время...

В целом перевод мне понравился )

Да, очень походит на стиль Борисова/Агафонова. Хотя на этот стиль многие "неформальные" песни того времени походят. Народное творчество - оно такое. ;)
