Expression Song (Dance Like You Mean It)
- 1. "Eenie, meanie..."
- 2. Group name sounds like "Out of Time" in Russian. Group name transliterated: "Vremya I Steklo"
- 3. could also be "person", but the concensus is that he's singing about "face" or your expression.
- 4. lit: "Better that you find your own "face/person", when they throw this track to your feet on the dancefloor."
- 5. "you and me"
- 6. lit: "Dance with a facial expression like you know what you're doing."
- 7. specific type of tattoo, normally worn by criminals
- 8. hard to translate this litterally, but the idea's similar, as far as I know.
- 9. виртуальная реальность
- 10. "Public Relations" = "связи с общественностью"

Hello) such a problematic text you chose to translate. ))
First line is / Eus deus double trouble /
And this is just random fancy words. No puns no logic
Eus deus is a part of russian Counting-out game
So you can think of it as of Eeny, meeny, miny, moe
PR - Public Relations
Really, interesting! I thought the first line was "Hell's Bells" in English. At least that what it sounded like. Well, either way, since it's nonsense, I'll just leave it the way I have it in English, which is also nonsense. LOL. But, thanks for the explanation. :)
Yeah i think your variant have more sense than original))
And eus deus comes from old greek poem
Aeneas bene rem publicam facit,
In turba urbem sene Tiberi jacit.
Deus, deus, crassus deus,
Bacchus!"
That give birth to a few russian childrens counting text like: эни бени рики таки... or эус дэус краснодеус бакш ( from song up there)
This one is pure no sense rap. Good luck to make a sense of it :)
Елс - sounds like else
Дэлс - maybe dance? I don’t honestly know anything in Russian or English that will make a sense in either language
LOL, I explained that Дэлз… thing. It's actually English with a Russian accent. He's saying "Hell's Bells, Double Trouble" later he says "Virtual Reality VR VR" then "PR PR". LOL. The rest of it is a horrible mess. But, at least I understood what he tried to say in English. LOL
Мчится красный, в нем два хулигана. (Red [car] racing, there are two bully in it)
Одна длинноногая икона стиля, (One of them is a long-legged icon of style)
А другой - икона музыки. В машине шпилит ( the other one - is an icon of music. In car is playing)
Оу! (Wow)
Время и Стекло, Время, Время и Стекло. ("vremya & steklo", " vremya-vremya & steklo"
А в машине шпилит группа - Время и Стекло (in car is playing music-band "vremya & steklo"
So it is song of band vremya & steklo about how they race in car...
Word шпилит comes from german word - spielen (to play)
Also have second slang meaning - to have sex
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I had problems with this "Time and Glass" thing. I was wondering if it meant an "hourglass". But, apparently it's just the name of the group, but does that word translate as "hourglass"?
Oh, finally, it ended up with having sex LOL
Время и стекло == време истекло
This is what we hear in Russian
oh, gee I guess we can make a fuss even on a rap song. Даа?
I'm not trying to make a fuss, just trying to translate it. LOL. I still don't understand this "Time for sex" thing, of course in my school we never learned any words that had anything to do with sex or that were vulgar. In fact, we only learned nice words. We learned "to like" and "to love" but we were never even taught "to hate" or "to dislike". We were taught "happy" but never "sad". It's very weird, how they teach language to foreign speakers. Imagine that I thought that блядь was a man's name short for владимир until someone explained to me how vulgar it was. LOL.
Ouch, dear XD great story by the way))
Word шпилить is absolutly slang. I do not think it will be in any normal dic. In common it have meaning " to do something"
Шпилить на гитаре - to play guitar
Шпилить на английском - to speak english
Шпилить кого-то - to f@ck someone )
Sorry for mistakes it looks like i do not have autocorrect on tablet XD
Seems funny to me that Russian would adopt a German word into the language, being how anti-German they were (and still seem to be sometimes) - such as in the Movie Брат, which was weird because in it they implied that Americans were Germans (I'm assuming that was a derogatory term, calling someone "German" in Russian). So, yes, I used to speak German very well, but forgot most of it. I'm well aware of what spielen means, but never expected that Russian would use this (or any German word) in the Russian language. Very interesting. Thanks for that!
I don't remember the film very well, so I can't say anything about it. but I can assure you that the word "German" is not derogatory in the Russian language ..) and even if the film had such a context (i really don't remember) - this is not a reflection of Russian reality. therefore, we use their words, even blitzkrieg and gazenvagen, without any preconceptions. but there are many neutral words of course)
That's nice to know. :)
Also there is mistakes in russian text
Мама-ма-мастер, наколи мне масти
Что бы все от зависти открыли свои пасти.
Коли тату, кольщик, коло-колокольчик.
Все мои заценят этот звонкий прикольчик.
Я накрою партаки новым модным шмотом.
Руки в брюки, а на ноги, джоржаны в полете.
Дык вы шмонаете как за здрастье
there are quite specific words.
Кольщик - tattoo artist in prison jargon.
Колоть - to make a tattoo.
Масть - can have two meanings:
1. card suit - a symbol of risk and excitement.
2. prison caste - really nasty tattos for someone to have
(I hope they sing about the first version)
Партаки - are a poorly made or ugly tattoos
Thanks!!! That helped a lot!
А прикол - это просто шутка, а приколоться - пошутить
Haha, thanks! Seems it actually really is just nonsense, but i like it anyway xd
You should revise the translation for the second half of the second verse, especially given the errors in the Russian text. The official lyrics are in the drop down description on the YouTube video. I don’t know what “партаки” means, but the next lines should be: «Руки в брюки, а на ноги, Джорданы в полёте» which translates as “hands in [my] trousers, and on my feet are Jordans in flight [as in Air Jordan sneakers].”
Thanks will do. :)
"Главное, чтобы свое лицо ты нашел
Когда бросят этот трек в ноги на танцпол"
I read these lines as something like "it's important that you've found your litso, when they throw this track at your feet on the dancefloor."
"трек" here is track, as in a song track.
I still can't tell whether they are using "litso" as "face" or "person", probably just playing on the word, as Potap, the song's author, likes to do. I had interprepreted the song generally as meaning "face" given use of "свое" and this line: "Так, что каждый сам себе свое что-то представляет".
Well, either way, how do you suggest I translate that? "You'd better have found someone (to dance with), when the beat hits the floor." (That's way off the original, but makes sense in English.) Or, "You'd better have your dance face on, when you hit the dance floor to the beat." (Also way off the original, but also makes sense in English.) The problem with the song is that its original wording can't translate well into English as it is. So, a little liberty is needed in the translation. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi, just rewatched the band’s video (not the lyric video version that just had the animated car), and it looks like they are emphasizing the “face” definition of лицо.
Here’s my stab at a translation of the official lyrics, except I still am not sure what партаки means:
Song about a Face
Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra
Eus Deus
Double Trouble
Racing
Red
Inside are two hooligans
One is a long-legged icon of style
the other is an icon of music
In the car is blaring
Vremya i Steklo
Vremya
Vremya i Steklo
and in the car is blaring
the group Vremya i Steklo
It's important that you find your face when they throw this track at your feet on the dance floor.
And here this music
downloads us with you so that
Everyone one presents something of themselves
Dance with such a face as though you know something
D-d-d-d-d-dance
with su-su-such a face
as-as if you know something
Oy, everything!
M-m-master pin a tat on me
so that everyone will drop their jaws in envy
ink a tattoo, inkster
a littler ringer
Everyone will check out this resounding trickster
I close out (partaki)
with new trendy clothes
My hands are in my jeans
and on my feet are Jordans in flight
Virtual reality
VR VR
and, b**** mine aren't small
PR PR
And here this music

Everyone one presents something of themselves
Dance with such a face as though you know something
D-d-d-d-d-dance

Уважаемый demian, вы можете свою версию опубликовать, это не запрещается и в случаях разного трактования даже поддерживается. :)
I feel that Phil is already is kinda tired of this ;)
«Партаки» Liz объяснила как плохо сделанные наколки [bad/ugly tattoos], типа «напортачили» - strewed up
;)
Найти [своё] лицо = найти свою сущность = to find [out] what/who you really are /// not sure they rap about this though, but I don’t see any other meaningful explanation ;)
And btw, “трек в ноги на танцпол” они фигуративно бросают, meaning ‘when they release it, they expect everybody to dance to it’ ;)
Thanks. OK! I'll change it from "person" to "expression", and that small foot thing too. :)

Thanks for all the help once again to all those who helped me make this rather cryptic rap song try to make some semblance of sense in English. Hugs to all.
