Parodia Hymnu Związku Radzieckiego

Na chuj nam swoboda ruskiego naroda,
gdy nie ma co palić i nie ma co pić.
Burdele zamknięte, kondony pęknięte
i jak tu normalny człowiek ma żyć?

I znów przyjdzie do nas Lenin,

co to socjalizm,
po ki chuj on jest.

Thanks, Ivan. Indeed I overdid a bit – закрытые and лопнутые are adverbs and what was meant were verbs. I overlooked it. Corrected.

As for the rest let me discuss it. Everything what I wrote was the way I wanted it. As I spend five years of my life in Moscow and even if it was a long time ago I still remember some expressions Russian students used. So:

– лопнутый гамдон is a common expression that I remember from one chastushka: Пришел Дед Мороз и подарки всем принес – кoму книгу Тихий Дон, кoму лопнутый гамдон. (Oh, I already killed myself using a virtual keyboard again…) Ever heard? There are also other versions, like e.g. this one that I found only a while ago: https://www.anekdot.ru/id/-10065778/ (though it’s импортный гондон – something different);

– as for seplenić (lisp in English) I picked the word from a dictionary, but there are other options like: шепелявить (I used it now). Have a look:
https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%88%D0%B5%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8F%D0%B...

What you suggested seems to have a different meaning:
https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%BC%D1%83%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%8...

What I wrote seemed to be a correct expression (at least according to the wiktionary):
https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%81%D1%8E%D1%81%D1%8E%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8...

– что это за хуйня социализм is of course not literal I intentionally added a four letter word. Your suggestion is literal and I would prefer to interpret it my way to keep the style of the original and not the words;

– за каким хуем он нужен sounds strangly to my ears. Could be the Russian language changed a bit since my time, I never heard it that way. What I had written was what I still remember.

   ср, 16/10/2019 - 23:13

Okay, to play safe I decided to change the last line. This version is for sure correct. :)

I lived in a dormitory and I think some Russians didn't speak correctly. They all used a very colloquial language and a bit broken in some cases, so could be it was a mistake caused by that fact.

AldefinaAldefina
   ср, 16/10/2019 - 23:50

Anyway, I made a typo. Only now I noticed what has happened. It was not my intention to write кого. Two letters were missing and you were right to object it as it didn't make sense that way. Nevertheless, I solved this problem now in a different way.

Ivan U7nIvan U7n    чт, 17/10/2019 - 04:50

I'll look at this all later to make a full answer, but for now 2 things that aren't right in the terms of grammar:
I've never heard variant гаМдон, only гаНдон.
In the line with шепелявить the verb быть must be in the 3rd person singular form, while yours is in the 1st person plural form.

Take it easy:

Союз нерушимый республик свободных
Сплотила навеки Великая Русь.
...
Партия Ленина – сила народная
Нас к торжеству коммунизма ведёт!
....
Сквозь грозы сияло нам солнце свободы,
И Ленин великий нам путь озарил:
На правое дело он поднял народы,
На труд и на подвиги нас вдохновил!

The parody clearly refers to the Soviet Union and NOT to The Russian Republic Anthem. The melody is not important, you cannot parody a melody, only the words.

Yesterday it was already very late, much too late, and I was half asleep, so I wasn’t able to see anymore some mistakes. I should have checked this translation once again before publishing and left it until today. I wanted to write на какого хуя and that would have been correct:
https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B3%D0%BE_%D1%...

As for гамдон: I have never seen it written. That was how I always heard it and that’s why I wrote it that way. I never heard anybody pronouncing it as гандон or гандон (both ways of writing seem to be correct:https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%B3%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BD and https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%B3%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BD).

As for the Lenin and his way of speaking: I never heard his speeches. Only now I checked YouTube and clearly he’s not lisping. I changed it “my way” and it better expresses what was meant.

As a consequence, to avoid too many four-letter words that were not in the original, I corrected the following verse and I’ve made some other corrections - according to your earlier suggestions.

I hope it’s finally finished now. Have look!

And I must say I love Russian мат. Mo matter whether you like it or not it’s the “essence of the language” and it’s needed if you travel to Russia, not to use it one a daily basis, but just for your safety. The same applies to any language.

Anyway, chastuchkas are full of it and they are also a part of the Russian culture.

And let me tell you a Russian joke about one German, one American and one Russian, who started arguing in which country four-letter words are used mostly. At first they traveled to Germany, They heard on the street: Scheiße! See that! – a proud German said. That’s nothing – said the American and so they went to the USA. They heard: – Fuck you, you sonofabitch! The American said: – Wasn’t it much better? The Russian didn’t say a word. They arrived in Moscow, they put their luggage into a taxi, but as it was too heavy after few kilometers the suspension in Wolga broke down. Taxi driver got mad: На хуя до хуя хуйни нахуярили?! Выхуйяривайте хуйню на хуй!!!

Sorry, I’m afraid only native Russian speakers will be able to understand what the taxi driver really said.

I'm afraid this discussion went much too far. LT is about translating. This is not a political forum. Comments closed...."

As you slander me in public here and there instead of talking in private and people may get a wrong feeling that I have it in for you, let me reply also in public, to make the situation clear also for those who read the spam you submit.

Now let me quote the main parts of our private discussion:

You:
You erased my text and now what? silence?
I ask you to please reinstate my text and of course you can provide your concrete suggestions if you have an understanding how one can improve it.
As I told you, it is a poetic text just like the original, filled up with specific images and references that native speakers can access.
Meanings can get complex. There are figures of speech and other references visible to native speakers.
Poetic texts make sense to a reader who can interpret complicated sentences and images.

I:
I didn't erased it. I unpublished it and you should be able to access it: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/bo-we-mnie-jest-seks-%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD%D....
I did it because it was not a translation but your own lyrics that had a completely different meaning than the original. You can submit it if you like, but only as your own lyrics. You should add yourself as an artist and then submit it. Well, but you were told that already by another moderator, weren't you?
Don't tell me it was poetic. My translations are generally very interpretative, 'cause I care how they sound in the target language, but even if I not always translate the words I keep the meaning.
I already submitted the English translation, so you can read it and you'll see that you misunderstood the song completely.

You:
I disagree with you. I did not misunderstand the song completely. I gave it an interpretation, and I mentioned it in disclaimer. That is enough, there is no need to separately credit it to my name. Repeating your mantra "bad, does not make sense" many times will not make it true. Be proactive and show me exactly where you think that I got it wrong. We can then have a linguistic discussion. I use dictionaries of synonyms and those can be played with in many ways in the target language. So please dont act on me as you are some kind of language police (gouvernement control of speech, argh). Let us take it to the jugement of an expert in both languages. If you want to discuss my relationship with another moderator, so be it - do it openly, initiate a topic. Your own credentials in Russian are not at all impressive. Are you able to produce a text in the Russian language? Why do you judge mine and why do you believe you can make a judgement, whether it is poetic, or not? Like some experts, you seem to judge others for some things that he himself can't create. Like a bureacrat, you seem to favor only Your own interpretation of the text.

I:
I will republish what you submitted, so that ….. will be able to read it.
You wrote "...но кардинальных отступлений от текста оригинала не замечено" and that's the key to the problem. You simply didn't understand what was that song about, still you translate it.
My advice would be to stay away from translating from Polish until you learn it enough and later to avoid songs with words that are not used in everyday language. There are many much simplier songs that you should start with.
Good luck in learning Polish.

You :
Thank you! Problem solved! It would never be so tough if you just expressed all those things in comments and I would reply and engage in a discussion and ask about those hard to translate words. I did not see it as problem of understanding the source language. I saw it in a different light.

As I didn’t seem to convince you to publish it as your own poetry today I did it giving you as the one who submitted it: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/wisigoth-lyrics.html.

Now I just checked the logs and I must tell you that you are simply a crank and you’re trolling for the reasons that I don’t understand. I realized that the day I asked you to do it (10/05/2020) you did it yourself: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/ed-schlothauer-%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%8F-%....

Shame on you. Why can’t you stop slandering me in public and why did you do it when the problem didn't exist anymore? What was the purpose of all your calumnies? You should apologize for what you did.

And let me remind you what our rules say: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/faq#faq71.
Do really you want that?

On top of that let me remind you that also Ww Ww unpublished 5 translations of yours that didn't make sense. I'm afraid you shouldn't treat yourself as a translator. You may be a poet, but the idea of translating is to express the ideas of the source lyrics correctly, even if not using exactly the same words, but correctly, otherwise it wouldn't be a translation.

Period. I have nothing more to add.

AldefinaAldefina
   чт, 17/10/2019 - 17:23

I’m not a fan of using four-letter words and this parody was an exception, nevertheless sometimes they are unavoidable. I remember years ago I went to the cinema to watch Apocalypse Now (a 1979 American war film about the Vietnam War). When I compared subtitles with what I heard I nearly fainted. After the film I heard somebody saying “These American soldiers are not like ours. They never use four-letter words. Our soldiers should learn from them”.

I couldn’t stop laughing.

Anyway, even now when a film is translated bad words are replaced by polite words and if you don’t understand English you may get a feeling the actors never curse.

AldefinaAldefina
   сб, 26/09/2020 - 15:34

[@wisigoth]: If you quote my words then, please, don’t take them out of a different context. I closed the comments because they were off topic and the song itself was not a political one. What’s more the tension grew too much, some people started attacking others in a very rude manner (you are not able to see the comments that I unpublished, so you can not judge it for yourself) and I couldn’t have allowed that. I’m not a Russophobe and every Russian who knows me can tell you that. For sure it would be possible to live in Russia without knowing any swear word, but it could be very dangerous. As I spent all my student’s time in Moscow I can tell you that basing on my own experience.

This song from the Seventies is a joke and it has nothing to do with the Russian Federation that didn’t exist at that time. For your information: we don’t censor songs because of too strong language. The same applies to translations, only using curses in comments, even if not meant as insult, is not allowed. Anyway, I marked this content as explicit, so who doesn’t want to read it will be informed before he decides to do it.

Swear words, as I wrote already, are the essence of any language, not only Russian. All travelers will tell you that. Knowing a lot of Cuban curses (some are used only in Cuba) saved me once from getting into problems, because I was able to escape before the situation escalated. They exist in any language whether you like it or not. You may not use use them, but that won’t make them disappear from the language. It’s very human to have words that can express our negative emotions and make us feel a little better because when we use them we can loose our mental tension. Of course it’s irritating when people tend to use them too often, sometimes even almost creating a new language that bases mostly on them - like in a Russian joke that I wrote in one of my comments here.

Pierre, you can block some users from sending messages and from commenting your translations, but that doesn't apply for moderator's messages and comments. Anyway, it's good to know that he blocked you. I can easily guess why he did it. ;)

silencedsilenced    вс, 27/09/2020 - 13:02

It's ok, Andrzej. Just a misunderstanding. It's already fixed. Now we'll see if we can talk this through :)

now that we made your day my friend..)). It was an honest mistake, now it's been fixed.

[@wisigoth]: Even though it's off topic and we shouldn't discuss it here, once this discussion was started let me explain some details that may help you understand your mistakes:

Brat already expressed his opinion and I would like to add that you killed that song in the text that you called a "poetic translation". I wonder if you dared to read my English translation: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/bo-we-mnie-jest-seks-because-there%E2%80%.... You killed the whole idea already in the title "Меня бросает в жар" - "Because there’s sex in me". It was just Victorian style. If you were afraid of using the word sex you shouldn't have even tried to translate the lyrics. The same story in many parts of the song. As for your poetry that was acceptable, but unacceptable to call it a translation.

Anyway you had earlier a similar discussion in private with Ww Ww and you were already told that what you submitted were not translations and couldn't have been submitted as such. You were advised to submit them as your own poetry.

You cannot call yourself a translator, don't pretend to be the one. You are a poet and you should submit almost everything what you write as your own poetry. Have a look at your translations and move them where they belong. Please stop arguing and don't translate from the languages that you don't understand, like Polish, especially poetic lyrics that don't use everyday language.

wisigothwisigoth    вс, 27/09/2020 - 14:19

I respect your honest advise, but will stick to my own judgement. I am aware of many excellent translations into Russian by established poets and common folk,- in many cases the author worked from a literal translation and consultations with native speakers. The author did not speak source language yet produced a masterpiece.
Do not sideline this discussion into lesson in translation. My question is/are simple: why did you unpublish my work in a brutal way when I was asking you many times and reaching out to you for explanation?
My past history here does not define me as contributor today. I am not a convict with no prospect for a bright future)) I know how to take a lesson when I see a good teacher.
Last but not least, there are many metaphors and synonyms, other ways to express a notion (*sex* in this example) and I was questioning your ability to comprehend and to judge them without being impartial. "Knowing your fascination with obscene vocab".

AldefinaAldefina
   вс, 27/09/2020 - 14:30

You read my opinion about your "translation" and if you believe that you can understand Polish better than I can then this discussion makes no sense.

Just remember that if you want to tell that the text is a translation you have to keep the meaning AND/OR the style of expression. Both got lost.

AldefinaAldefina
   вс, 27/09/2020 - 15:15

You heard the same opinions about your translations from a native Russian moderator. What you need is a bit of self-criticism, which you clearly lack. Okay, I'm out of this discussion and don't ask me to continue it in private, 'cause I won't. One can suggest some corrections, but when I disagree with the whole text then there's noting to improve. It has to be translated from scratch, forgetting about previous version.

[@silenced]: Pierre, can you tell us your opinion basing on my English translation?

silencedsilenced    вс, 27/09/2020 - 15:25

I certainly could, but maybe now is not the best time to get mired in a technical argument. I should be able to PM you about it momentarily, if that's ok with you.

silencedsilenced    вс, 27/09/2020 - 20:32

Come on kids, be good, the both of you :)
Seriously, can't it wait until tomorrow?
Just chill out, will you?

yeah, sure, what about my comments, reactions that were arbitrarily deleted even when they did not violate any rules?

silencedsilenced    вс, 27/09/2020 - 20:38

What would it take to put a smile on your lips, Eduardo? A pair of pliers?
All this has been going on for months, it can wait until tomorrow.

wisigothwisigoth    вс, 27/09/2020 - 20:46

I am happy and laughing, my concern is with erasing of comments without any mention or a valid reason, including today on this same thread. So, it's a completely different problem. Especially, coming from M Andrzej, a rare "romantic" who is all but for "freedom of speech". Sorry, but something just does not add up between his slogans and his actions. It's exactly what we had to live with under East European dictatorships. Simple point, nothing personal.)))

silencedsilenced    вс, 27/09/2020 - 20:48

Mmm... I'll be back in a moment.
Now where did I put these pliers already?

silencedsilenced    пн, 28/09/2020 - 11:58

I've told you about that in PM, but apparently that wasn't enough.
You are not allowed to challenge the authority of moderators in public, no more than you are allowed to challenge the authority of a law enforcer in the street.
Any moderator is not only entitled, but expected to remove offending comments, notably those implying dishonest or abusive behaviour from the staff, not to mention allusions to dictatorship.
If you think you've been wronged, you can settle the matter privately.
This has nothing to do with your issue, it's meant to protect the peace. Public exchange of insults or accusations is not acceptable.

Come on, Eduardo. A few harsh words can fly around in a heated debate, but this is becoming ugly.
Get a grip and chill out before you paint yourself in a corner. It would be such a shame.

I’m sorry, especially today, but I expect any moment you’ll start comparing the size of your...feet.
Ed, I love your work and I like you very much - so I beg you to stop this first.
Andrew, you and Ed are likely to become buddies, no telling what you’ll drink, - don’t forget I said it first - you’ll see.

Sorry, that's not true. They violated the rules. I linked you the rule.

Beneath your translations many people, including some editors, told you the same what I said. I see there's no way to make you understand things that seem to be very simple.

Okay, enough. I finally stopped and please don't continue and don't force me to unpublish next comments of yours.

Adoption is very complicated these days. What if it's another person under that mask😷🤔🤓

I have no problem, Masha. :)
Take it easy. When I find time I will add an old Jewish joke that helps when you have a problem with someone. But not now and not here. We have an old topic with jokes created by our famous Maria alias Mamba of different kinds, that was even on my friends' list, but later in one of her many reincarnations registered as AldefinaHater2.0 for a while. ;)
