Corrections welcome. some things I did:
-Translated タール as the Thar desert rather than tar or tobacco bc it makes sense for heat hazes to be on it
-I think the reference Yonezu is making with Campanella is the companion character from the fairytale 『銀河鉄道の夜』(Night on the galaxy railroad) by Miyazawa Kenji. Campanella is the friend of the main character Giovanni and I'm assuming that the basic companionship/friendship is the main thing to take away from it. Feel free to prove me wrong though lol since I'm just guessing
Also this song is great
yeah
1. | KICK BACK |
2. | Lemon |
3. | マトリョシカ (Matryoshka) |
Shouldn't I witnessed a dream be replaced with "Campanula was dreaming?" I don't know Japanese that much but it seemed much more reasonable.
In the story that the song is referencing, Campanella is pretty dead, and is being talked about from a perspective of one of the still living characters. This way, he can't really be the acting force in any sentence because the song sort of brings about a sense that he really is gone, and that there is some serious regret by the character that is singing.
Oh, okay. I don't know Japanese a lot but thanks for the story!
One request: I was looking up to word はからずも, which means unexpectedly indeed. However in the jisho.org dictionary I may only find the official version 図らずも and one irregularly used form 謀らずも. Is 計らずも a form the dictionary doesn't include and if yes, is it highly irregular or should a beginner keep this form in mind?
