ひとりじゃないの
I'm Not Alone
1. | ひとりじゃないの (Hitori Janai No) |
2. | 恋する夏の日 (Koisuru natsu no hi) |
3. | 虹をわたって (Niji o watatte) |
This song is Amachi Mari highest selling song with the total sales of 601,000 copies. It reached #1 in Oricon chart and stayed in #1 for 6 weeks, dropped down but still stayed in top 10 for another 12 weeks, and dropped down to top 100 for another 24 weeks before it disappeared from the chart. All the Oricon chart ranks I usually mentioned are Oricon weekly chart (updated every week), but even in Oricon yearly chart this song was ranked #6, which means this was the 6th highest selling song in the entire 1972. She also used this song in Kohaku Uta Gassen 1972.
It's nice to see idols from the old era appear again in modern day. (〃 ω 〃)
The video has been deleted by Youtube, so I'll post another one:
^ that was Amachi Mari in early 2000s (probably also in 2003, like the deleted video), singing this song.

Amachi Mari (born: November 5, 1951) is arguably the most popular Japanese idol in early 1970s. She is one of the first generation of Japanese idol. She made her debut in 1971 and since then, 5 of her songs have reached the #1st rank in Oricon Chart; an impressive record that could only surpassed later by Pink Lady(the most popular idol group in late 1970s) and Masuda Seiko(the most popular idol in 1980s).
She has also performed 3 times in Kohaku Uta Gassen; a "legendary" new year eve TV program that has been aired every single year in Japan since 1953 until now. Only the most popular artists of that year will be invited to this show. To be invited even once is already a prestige, yet Mari got invited three times.
In 1977, Amachi Mari retreated from the showbussiness due to "personal reason". Two and a half years later she made a comeback in 1979 after encouraged by her fans. She released her last single in 1983. She was also an actress. Detail of her biography can be read in her wiki.

^ The other singer in that video is Agnes Chan, also a very popular idol from 1970s.
