
I have translated the last verse as it appears in the German text, yet I think that there might be a mistake in the ending. While listening to the song, I rather hear the last verse ending exactly like the previous one: "Wer wird bei der Laterne stehen / Mit dir Lili Marleen?". In this case, the French translation should be once again: "Qui restera près de la lanterne /
avec toi Lili Marleen?".
This would make more sense, for I think that the last two verses picture the author's death - as a possibility, the author's is afraid to die and think about his death. He also thinks of his beloved: once he dies, there might be someone else by Lili Marleen.
