Little Kersti
There lived a farmer on Ostervalla moor
And o the little one
Daughters he had and so dear to him were they
In the royal stable she worked in secrecy
Children he had four, children he had five, but
Little Kersti was the dearest of them all
Little Kersti, she went to the tailor´s village
And there they made her new knight´s clothes
Little Kersti, she went to the shoemakers village
And there they made her new knight´s boots
By day she rode the horses in meadows green
By night she slept in the bed of the duke
By day she rode the horses to water
By night she slept in the arms of the duke
"Our stable boy has become so strangely heavy
That he can´t climb up in the saddle"
"Our stable boy has become so strangely fat
That he can´t ride when the sun shines hot"
When the queen through the stable door stepped
Little Kersti, she hid deep in stall
The Duke he spread out his cloak so blue
There she lay down and she birthed sons two
Maidens and princesses cried in despair
For now Little Kersti sleeps on the young king´s arm
Maidens and princesses are crying rivers
And o the little one
That he took a farmer´s daughter
In the royal stable she worked in secrecy
