Vois, la lumière
Ne pèse rien
Pour ne pas alourdir
Tes paupières légères
Pour que tes cils soient libres
De s'ébattre, sereins
Vers l'homme qui t'attire
Vers l'amour en chemin..
Elle ne pèse rien
L'impalpable lumière
Mais ta sihouette fine
Et son contour qui vibre
Forment comme un dessin
Ineffable et lointain
Qui pèse dans mon coeur
Et pèsera encore
O, longtemps, je le crains..
Vois comme la lumière
Si légère ! si légère !
N'empêche en rien
Ton clair regard qui brille
De rejoindre le mien.
Non, jamais l'airain
Si lourd du destin
Ne pourra rien faire
Contre cette lumière
Qui de l'amour provient.
Vois, ta lumière
Ne me pèse en rien.

See, light
Is weightless
So as to avoid
Being too heavy
On your so light eyelids
To let your eyelashes
Free to flit serenely
Towards this attractive
Man, towards love coming..
This inexpressible light weighs nothing
But this so fine
Silhouette of yours
And its vibrating contour
Both form a drawing,
Distant, undescribable,
Which bears heavy
In my heart
And will keep on bearing
O, for so long, I think.
See how the light,
So light, so light !
Prevents in no way
Your clear and shining eyes
From rejoining mine..
No, never will the heavy
Bronze of destiny,
Be able to go against
This flitting light
That comes from Love.
See, your light
Is no weight
