Shakira - Que Me Quedes Tú (перевод на Английский)

перевод на Английский

That you remain with me

Версии: #1#2#3#4
That they ruin the news channels
with everything I hate about TV
That the smiles all become obsolete
and they extinguish all sunsets
That they delete doctrines and duties
that complete action movies
That they destroy the pleasures of the world
and that the last song is written today

But you’re left for me
and your embrace is still with me
and the kiss you invent every day
and I stay here
After sunset
Forever, your melancholy
Because I, I yeah, yeah
That depends on you**
And if you stay
I still have life***

That the neighbors disappear
and eat the leftovers of my innocence
That friends leave me, one by one
and pepper* my bit of conscience
That my words are consumed on my lips
That the entire planet’s water becomes polluted
or that the philanthropists and the wise give up
and that the last poet dies today

But you’re left for me
And your embrace is still with me
And the kiss you invent every day
And I stay here
After sunset
Forever, your melancholy
Because I, I yeah, yeah
That depends on you
And if you stay
I still have life

*"acribillen" is the present subjunctive form of the verb "acribillar", which doesn't have an exact translation into english. Its meaning is similar to "to pelt" but it implies even greater severity and is often (if not usually) used metaphorically. **"That depends on you" refers to herself. *** This could also be translated as: "I'm still alive" or "I keep living"

"That depends on you" should be "That I depend on you". The translation you used would be correct if the she had said, "Que depende de ti".

IMO the whole translation is wrong. This song was written in an ironic setting: she says she wants the news channels to be ruined, etc. It's the que + subjunctive form which is used to express a wish. Even the title is mistranslated: I wish you'd stay with me
