What a nice compliment, thank you! :) But you translations are all excellent! Do you learn all the languages at the same time, Swedish, Icelandic and Finnish?
I have already heard that Finnish is very difficult. On the other hand - if languages are too close together, it can be very confusing. I have learnt some Spanish, and after that I tried to learn Italian, but I always mixed it up. :(
With Netherlands, English and German I have no problems. What I like most regarding Netherlands is the diminutive form of prepositions, for example " ik maak een ometje". - It is so wonderful! :)
Yeah, I once started Danish but it looked way too much like Swedish, so I gave up on it. Icelandic doesn't have that many words that look like Swedish, but it does sound the same.
I did have problems with German and Swedish, but I've spent enough time to get better at it. I am now able to read German and to hear and understand it, but I am still unable to make grammatical correct sentences in German because, I still don't understand the "die, der, das, dem, den, des" rules. :)
Awful, I know. And I really, really don't understand the sense of upper and lower case in German. In all the other languages I know, they use upper cases only in the beginnng of sentences and for names. In Japanese they have no upper cases at all and it works. Some years ago they had a reform here, but instead to make it easier, especially for people with foreign roots, it has become more complicate, as there are the new spelling and many old books with the old spelling, in libraries for example...
What about the school-system in Netherlands: What lanuages do you have to learn?
In Germany you learn English already in elementary school, and later you can choose (normally) between French and Latin or other languages.
The upper and lower case letters aren't a big problem and it actually helped me a lot, it kinda makes making sentences in German easier, but that's my opinion.
In the Netherlands you get English in elementary school as well, and later on you have French and German, and after a year of two, you have to choose between German, French or both. In some school you can take Spanish lessons as well and if you're really smart you can do Latin and old Greek as well.
Me, myself, I had chosen to only learn French at school, because my German grades were far from good. And I couldn't risk having to do this whole year again, but I'm still learning German online.
