Such is life

My feet are tired, I can't go on,
the journy is long, all tangled up,
'Such is life', that's what they say,
my sacrifice was done in vain.

I cry out to heaven: 'I can't 1.
I die, I don't find my star,
it doesn't come out, it doesn't shine'.

Choir:
Tired of walking,
I don't find my destiny
looking for what was lost
in the sea of oblivion.
'Such is life', that's what they say.
Ay, ay, ay, ay

My cross is large, alone I can't... 2.
To trust someone, is what I want.
'Such is life', that's what they say.
Without Him, life makes no sense.

I cry out to heaven,
I cry out to heaven: 'I can't,
I die, I don't find my star,
it doesn't come out, it doesn't shine'.

Choir:
Tired of walking,
I don't find my destiny
looking for what was lost
in the sea of oblivion.
Such is life, that's what they say
Ay, ay, ay, ay

Choir 2:
Tired of walking,
I have found my destiny
looking for what was lost,
You found me, I'm your son.

Such is life, that's what I say

I don't particularly care about giving explanations in a translation; I think that the interpretation should be left to the reader but, since these lyrics lack punctuation, and some of the verses are incomplete, I want to say:

1. "I can't" --> go on (repetition from the first verse).
2. "alone I can't" --> carry the cross
3. I suggest video, www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xpyBGm9laQ

¡Hola! Rosa.
Gracias por tu traducción. Quiero sólo hacer un comentario - de echo una pregunta.
En esta canción hay un problema cómo entender estos versos:

Mi cruz es grande, solo no puedo
confiar en alguien, es lo que quiero

Could be it’s an unfinished sentence and the next verse is a new sentence:

Mi cruz es grande, solo no puedo...
Confiar en alguien, es lo que quiero.

And this is how you have translated it, only “...” at the end is missing. I feel this seems to be the correct interpretation, but perhaps it was meant:

Mi cruz es grande. Solo no puedo
confiar en alguien, es lo que quiero.

So I would translate it - using my “licencias poéticas”:

I carry the cross. I’m myself unable to
to trust anyone and that’s what I want.

What’s your opinion?

And another thought: Once the original lyrics were already corrected I think you don’t need anymore to comment the mistakes in the initially submitted lyrics.

I would also advice you to reformat your translation the same way as the corrected lyrics. It would be easier to read it.

¡Hola Andrzej!
After I made my suggestion, I was going to look into this and erase my comments, but I haven't had the time (as I have to answer your last message).
Yes, some of these verses are incomplete but the meaning is implied, you can figure it out. Another thing that doesn't help, is the luck of punctuation.
"Sólo no puedo confiar en alguien", could be, and I read it like that the first time; but then, I thought it made more sense "solo no puedo ('to carry the cross), and earlier he simply says "no puedo" (to carry/go on); "confiar en alguien" --> to have somebody's help, a companion ? God? (Quizás una de mis licencias). That's the way it makes sense to me.
Yours:
" I carry the cross. I’m myself unable to
to trust anyone and that’s what I want"

To trust someone, or to carry the cross?

Have you seen the video I suggested to make the corrections in the original? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xpyBGm9laQ?
The changes were made from there by Guillermo Dávila, and so was my translation.

I see you have decided to make just a small correction in punctuation - exactly the way I suggested. Yes, I also believe this is what was meant. Just three dots and what a difference...

I would also advice you to capitalize the next line (“To trust someone...”) - I think you can treat it as a next sentence.

The second version was kinda joke and provocation. I tried to imagine what would have happened after changing the punctuation the way I did - just trying to guess the different possibility. And I meant that “life is hard” and that “she wants to trust someone, but she is unable to do that”.

BTW, I have learned a nice expression “¡Qué cruz!” - “What a (hard) life”!

From my own experience - I’m unable to recall when I was able to find the last lyrics that were correct. Whenever you need to correct the lyrics submitted by someone else just write to me and I’ll take care of that.

Gracias Andrzej por las estrellas, y por la mayúscula. Los puntos suspensivos (,,,) ya los tenía. Todavía están en mi borrador, no sé por qué no aparecieron en la copia limpia, pero gracias por hacérmelo notar.

What I did was to write a note under the lyrics, suggesting a video that, I myself, found trying to correct the senseless verses. One of the things the original said was, "esclavo del cielo no puedo". As I told you, Guillermo Dávila, who posted the request, made the corrections.

Thanks again. See you later. (I'm answering your previous message).

En español, Andrés.
Recuerda que yo te llamé André, antes.

Rosa, I have checked and the video you suggested is not available anymore. If you don't like this one give me a link with the one you like and I'll submit it.

roster 31roster 31    Уторак, 09/12/2014 - 16:18

Yes Andrzej (O.K?), it happened to me too. It was available when I suggested it, since Davila made the changes. I'll see if there is another, although I don't think it's up to me to change it, but Annette Moreno doesn't sing very celarly, at least in this video.

AldefinaAldefina    Уторак, 09/12/2014 - 19:49

Why not? You have submitted the first translation (and so far the only one) and I think you have the right to change the video. If you find a better one just send me a link.
