Cansù
Gh’è quàch cansù balòsse
che i me lassa miga stà;
gh’ó piö vint’agn, bambòsse,
a só bu gna de cantà!
Ma quando la matina
me dèsde e salte fò,
lure i fa dét giungina,
ghe dighe mai de nò.
Che tat e tat, se brège,
a fó dét negót de bé:
chèla che gh’ó ’n d’i orège,
l’è chèla töt ol dé.
Cansù, tochèi de éta,
tochèi de Carneàl,
che i turna ’ndré e i se quièta.
Hèntet? L’è ü verticàl…
che l’passa zó in contrada
a l’ura de disnà;
finìt la sò cantada,
quàter palanche e l’va.
L’è sèmpre issé la stòria,
dess-sèt, desdòt, vint’agn:
föm e cansù, baldòria,
l’è pròpe töt compàgn.
Ma quando la matina
me dèsde e salte ’n pé,
i me tö ’l fiat infina,
lure i è töte lé.
Cos’ói de fà, copàle?
Copà i cansù… desmèt!
Bisògna contentàle,
lassàga fà ü girèt.
E chèsta la m’regórda
ol prim basì de amùr.
E chèsta, co la bórda,
cós’éla? A l’è ü dulùr.
Chèsta che branche e mòle
la me n’à facc del mal…
Gh’ó ölìt cambià i paròle,
ma gh’ére mìa de fàl.
Ma quando la matina
me dèsde e salte ’n pé,
i me tö ’l fiat infina,
lure i è töte lé.
Cos’ói de fà, copàle?
Copà i cansù… desmèt!
Bisògna contentàle,
lassàga fà ü gi–,
lassàga fà ü gi–,
lassàga fà ü girèt.
Превод
Songs
There are rascal songs
that won’t leave me alone;
I’m no longer twenty, you silly things,
I’m not even good at singing!
Yet, when in the morning
I wake up and get out of bed,
they paint the town red,
I never say no to them.
’Cause anyway, all in all, if I cry aloud,
it does no good:
the one I have in my ear,
it stays the same all day long.
Songs, pieces of life,
pieces of Carnival,
coming back and going quiet.
Can you hear it? It’s a crank organ…1
who walks down the street
at lunchtime;
once his song is over,
a few pennies and he’s gone.
It’s always the same old story,
seventeen, eighteen, twenty years:
smoke, songs, and merrymaking,
it’s all the same, really.
However, when in the morning
I wake and get up,
they take my breath,
they’re all there.
What should I do, kill them?
Killing songs… knock it off!
We must accommodate them,
let them go for a stroll.
And this one reminds me
of my first loving kiss.
And this one, with a mask,
what is it? It’s a pain.
This one that I grab and let go,
it hurt me a good deal…
I went and changed its words,
but I shouldn’t have.
However, when in the morning
I wake and get up,
they take my breath,
they’re all there.
What should I do, kill them?
Killing songs… knock it off!
We must accommodate them,
let them go for a st–,
let them go for a st–,
let them go for a stroll.
- 1. A crank organ (or barrel organ, roller organ, hand organ, …) is a musical instrument resembling a miniature church organ, which is operated by hand, and which plays a prerecorded melody (recorded by means of holes on a paper strip); it was often used by itinerant buskers.
See for example here.
In the song, “verticàl” refers to the busker himself.
