I think you may like Stealing Beauty. I am rarely surprised in movies, but Best Offer had me at hello.

I have a list of reasons why it sucks. It's not about general feeling. Plot has major issues, some scenes are redundant and some are pitiful. Certain characters are there just there as a filler 'cause story would end rather quickly without them...
No need to be hostile about it. Star Wars is epitome of overrated and cheap. And I took time to watch those movies and think about it, I didn't ignore the movies but form an opinion.

Sorry For intruding" But "Dizzy89" when you form an oppinion you must be specific and point it out as your own oppinion ... You see what you may not like , others can like , even though you stated some reasons , still some people may not see them fit and so it goes on and on ...... People tastes in general differs and we must learn to co op with people and respect their own , eve though ours differs , tryin to convince someone over a thing is not always the best bet ...It would've been suficient if you would've stated your oppinion like "in my personal point of view , /taste this is bad" , and maybe go on and tell why you think so (like you did in this last comment ) , rather than sayin it like a generalised oppinion which people may find it offensive

To me, Starwars is for children under 14 years old (especially American ones)  *NO* . But I liked  (for example) :
- Soylent Green
- 2001 : A Space Odyssey
Otherwise :
- Arsenic and Old Lace
- Harold and Maude
- (all Hitchcocks)
- Hair
- Out of Africa
- Paris, Texas
- Arizona Dream
- Il était une fois la révolution (Duck, You Sucker!)
- Les Yeux noirs (Очи чёрные)
- La Noce (Свадьба)

As to typical French films (although Jacques Tati was half Russian) :
- Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, Mon Oncle

Probably many others, but those are coming to my mind right now. I'm afraid I'm a little old-fashioned.

Oh, I forgot the Marx Brothers, of course...
And Fantasia (Walt Disney).

We're not fighting. From Miyazaki, I saw "Castle in the Sky", I liked it but I felt terribly dizzy after it. :/

Funny how you guys keep on talking why this movie is loved or hated. I don't hate any movie - I just turn off the TV. Okay, just kidding. What I really hate is when they make a bad movie out of a good book. I guess everybody knows what I'm talking about. Didn't somebody listed "Gone with the Wind" as a hated one - I love the book, though I think it's a great movie, the book is still better. Anyway...

Movies I love:
Portrait of Jennie (1948) - never fails to make me cry
What Dreams May Come (1998) - made me read the book
Finding Nemo (2003) - always watching and finding something new
Ice Age (2002 - 2016) - I just love them all
Harry Potter / Fantastic Beasts - only because of the books
Jurassic Park/World - I just love the dinosaurs
Flatliners (1990)
Alien
Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

Favourite TV-Shows:
The Simpsons
The Munsters
24
Game of Thrones - The books are much better, but like Harry Potter the screen adaption is still good. Waiting for november to get the new book.

Favourite directors:
Alfred Hitchcock
Steven Spielberg

Favourite actors:
Klaus Kinski
Marilyn Monroe
Errol Flynn
Heinz Rühmann
Bette Davis
Julia Roberts
Will Smith
John Cusack
Meryl Streep
Ingrid Bergman

This often happens, alas. And even if the movie is not bad, it might look somehow strange, for example when Americans try to adapt Russian literature (Doctor Zhivago, Taras Bulba...) Those movies, although not bad, seem to me terribly "kitsch".

Gogol’ was ‘technically’ Ukrainian, though he wrote in Russian. And Ukrainians today hate Taras because he sold Ukraine to Russia... not to start another Russian-Ukrainian conflict (have enough of this being married to Ukrainian). ;)

Doctor Zhivago movie wasn’t bad, IMHO, but I cannot blame Americans - Pasternak’s language is unique, it’s the story that makes the novel to be recognized

Hmmm, they managed to shoot the Pyrénées and tell us it was Ural... who in the world could mix up Pyrénées and Ural ? Also they built a whole Moscow street out of nothing, and the demonstration happening there doesn't seem very realistic. And they used plastic instead of snow because it was too hot. And they even managed to make a mistake in the railway station sign : ЮРЯИТНЪ instead of ЮРЯТИНЪ...

LOL, they weren’t allowed to shoot in the Urals, there were too many top secret plants at that time.
Russian is tricky, transposing letters is common even for natives.

I like “Lost in Siberia” movie, but when the Soviet officer says:
“Ты у меня поедешь моржей дрочить, жопой клюкву давить.”
and the English subtitles translate it to:
“You are going to rot in Siberia”
it kinda makes me smile, though it is not funny

Dora, thanks for Doctor stranger, it's gonna be my next serial to watch. Till now I've watched: Good doctor (2013), Healer (2015), Kill Me, Heal Me (2015), Right now I'm watching Beautiful Mind (2016). I tryed to watch "I'm Not a Robot (2017 2018)" - really funny in the begining, I couldn't stop laughing, but after a few parts the gags got being repeated and it was tedious to wach. Usually I watch movies in it's original language with subtitles, but with korean serials it's not enough for me - I do not succeed to folow their facial expressions - they are so rich and it's funny to see them. First time I couldn't get acсustomed to the way how they cry - the tears are literally streaming on cheeks. So I'm afraid I'm on my way to study Korean :D

Sorry to tell you, The Bride, I can't say Kill Bill really touched my heart. It's just different people like different movies. The world is big and there are lots of good movies, but a human heart is small and it can't take in everything. Hope, you're okey with it and you're not gonna kill me? :)

My favourite movie has long been "Apocalypse Now". One of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book - "Heart of Darkness" by Conrad Black. Vast changes were made, including moving the story in the book from Africa to Vietnam in the movie.

I really identified with Colonel Kurtz. I like his clarity of mind. He tells Captain Willard:

"Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and mortal terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared."

Towards the end, as Captain Willard completes his mission, the dying Kurtz utters his last words, one of the most famous quotes from the movie:

"The... Horror... the... Horror."

What few seem to realize is that he utters those words in a tone of love, seeing his dear friend Horror come to pay him one final visit.

I guess few people here watched it, if any, and I'm sure nobody nowdays is interested in an old soviet movie, but nevertheless I'd like to tell you about some movie.

It's "The Evil Spirit of Yambuy", this movie was made in Soviet Union in 1979. Although it's so old, I admire it untill today. It reminds me of some Stephen King books, in which the story evolves slowly in the begining, when the author is making a scrupulous introduction to people and places, then some mystery events occur, the plot is thickening and at the end you kind of sitting with your mouth open and getting shivers up your spine. In that regard this movie is a quite unusual one for soviet movie-making back then. Here is a short description of the movie:

Several members of mapping expedition in Eastern Siberia mysteriously disappear in Yambuy mountains. The native Evenki tribesmen speak about an evil spirit that lives on Yambuy. Then it turns out that the "evil spirit" is a monstrous man-eating brown bear. Fedoseev, the head of the expedition, and Kararbakh, the old Evenki hunter, go to find and kill the beast. The movie is based on real events that occurred in late 1940s, and the main characters of the movie are real people. The Evenki characters, including Kararbakh, are played by non-professional actors.

I can't recomend you to watch it, 'cause there are lots of other thrillers nowdays, but in case you got interested, here it is where you can watch it with english captions:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KecZG4pKVik

The movie is translated to many other languages, so if desired, you can find it in internet. :)

No, definitly not, it is a different story. To be honest, I never wondered if it's a true story about events on Yambuy. I can't assert that it happened in real. Dyatlov Pass incident is a different mystery, that remains unsolved untill now.
