Hella

Oh, how did you stamp your foot, Hella!
My heart is on its way to heaven, along with my body
I am stalled, don’t even want to look up...
Goodbye Margarita, I am leaving forever!

If you want, you can pray - who cares
If you want, you can call the devil again
I will become a hurricane to get to the heaven....
Goodbye Margarita, I am leaving forever!

I’ll fall as snow on green grass - you can’t touch me
I’ll run away as fast river - you will not find me
The clouds are like wings above the earth....
Goodbye Margarita, I am leaving forever...

My first problem is, I don't see who this Gella is. It's been a while since I last read Master and Margarita, but I don't recall a character with that name.
I don't recall any scene of the book this song might allude to either. I mean, it sounds like the Master dumping Margarita at the end of the story. Aren't they supposed to stay peacefully together as ghosts forever more ? Regular smile

The song makes no sense to me, since I don't picture the scene at all.

I would understand "поднимать", but what's with this "подымать"?

I sure would not have guessed it meant that Teeth smile
"my heart is being torn asunder into the clouds, and so is my body" or somehting?
The Russian barely makes sense to me, but I trust your translation.
I suppose the first "on" in "on it’s on its way" is a typo?

ноги к полу приросли -> "my feet have taken root in the floor" or something? Or is that idiomatic?

I rather understand "call the devil again if you want" (I mean, it's her doing the calling, not him)

облака развернулись над землей, словно крылья -> I got the Yoda on "облака", but what does this "развернулись" really mean?

сердце рвется в облака - missed this one to explain; рвётся здесь not being torn apart, gosh, I don’t even know how to explain this... the heart is going into clouds, and clouds are often associated with heaven

ok, I think I see, like "tearing off the ground", "soaring" or something like that?

Igeethecat    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:29

More like it wants to fly and nothing can stop it

Igeethecat    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:50

Стремится - another Russian word for рваться

Igeethecat    Понедељак, 28/05/2018 - 23:30

I guess, I should change the title to

http://www.masterandmargarita.eu/en/03karakters/hella.html

Wink smile

Ноги к полу приросли - literally, feet rooted in the floor, so he cannot move, idiomatic, of course

Ah ok, she is called "Hella"in French (and in English too, apparently, so you might want to change that), I just failed to make the connection.
Even with that, I still have no idea what the song is about. Who is this character talking to Margarita? Hella herself?
Doesn't make any sense to me.

Igeethecat    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:04

I honestly don’t recall this Hella character clearly also, my best guess - it’s the master, I just don’t imagine any one else talk to Margarita like this Regular smile

petit élève    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:24

Ok, well... An alternative ending where the Master dumps Margarita for some unknown reason? Why not?

petit élève    Понедељак, 28/05/2018 - 23:44

Btw. there is also this song that sounds interesting, but I have only the vaguest idea of what it means. I can more or less decypher the words, but the global meaning eludes me.

Igeethecat    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:07

The global meaning - hymn to laziness Regular smile

Igeethecat    Уторак, 29/05/2018 - 00:38

Look, I would not dare to translate this. It’s not БС, but too specific Russian in my opinion Wink smile

By the way, some info about the name Hella

Quote:
