Lähestymiskieloja

Nainen, teen sun takii kaiken
Ruusua, horsmaa ja yksi takiainen
Tienpientareelta voikukkia vienoja,
Petuniaa pihasta ja lähestymiskieloja

Tässä kasvis, parsa
Olet kaunis, vast varsa
Mä oon yhtä vanha ja kuuma ku arska,
Taivaalla palan, UV
Piti taas pitkittää aamuu
Kaunis ajatus känniin kaatuu
Saatan väärälle ovelle vaappuu,
Mut aina mä palaan, uu jee
Nukun kynnyksel kukkakaupan
Tukka takana, eläny kauan
Sä ymmärrät myöhemmin, mitä elämä on, mä elämäst laulan
Ja sä et haluu sitä balladii
Tuon muitaki rehuja ku suussani sammalii
Avaa se lemmen ovi
Ei muistella sitä, mitä ennen oli

Nainen, teen sun takii kaiken
Ruusua, horsmaa ja yksi takiainen
Tienpientareelta voikukkia vienoja,
Petuniaa pihasta ja lähestymiskieloja

Suu täynnä puuta heinää
Hiivin himaan niin, et vaimo ei nää
Tein lepästä keihään, ammuin yli
Vannon kautta kukkaputiikin
Nyt loppu yörutiinit
Mehiläisenä kukkaasi lennän
Ja nukahdan syliisi hellään

Täs läppä Heikilt, Faceen quottaa
Jack Daniels, siihen meitsi luottaa
Muut mun frendit verta kuohuttaa
Niist ei oo koskaan myöhäst luovuttaa
Mutten jätä sua, vaik avain ei toimi,
Ja oves on Marko Asellin lukko
Piipaa kuulen, poliisit soitit,
Mut mul on meihin luja usko

Nainen, teen sun takii kaiken (kaiken)
Ruusua, horsmaa ja yksi takiainen
Tienpientareelta voikukkia vienoja,
Petuniaa pihasta ja lähestymiskieloja

Restraining Orchids

Woman, I do everything for you
Roses, willowherbs and a thistle
Gentle dandelions from alongside the road
Petunias from the yard and restraining orchids

Here's a veggie, an asparagus
You're beautiful, only a foal1
I'm as old and hot as the sun
I'm burning up in the sky, UV
I had to prolong the morning
A beautiful thought is ruined by intoxication
I might waddle up to a wrong door
But I'll always return, oh yeah
I will sleep on the flower shop's doorstep
Hair's on fleek, I've lived long2
You'll later understand what life is, I'm singing about life3
But you don't want to hear that ballad4
I will bring other feeds too than only moss5
Open the love's door
Let's not reminisce what was before

Woman, I do everything for you
Roses, willowherbs and a thistle
Gentle dandelions from alongside the road
Petunias from the yard and restraining orchids

The mouth is full of lies
I will sneak back home so that wife won't see me
I'll make a spear out of alder, I shot past6
Cross my heart and hope to die7
Now the night routines must come to an end
As a bee, I'll fly back into your flower
And fall asleep in your gentle arms

Here's a joke from Heikki that he quotes on Facebook8
I count on Jack Daniels
Other friends only make my blood boil
It's never too late to give up on them
But I won't leave you even if the key doesn't fit
And there's a strong lock on your door9
I hear the sirens, you called the police
But I have a strong faith in us

Woman, I do everything for you (everything)
Roses, willowherbs and a thistle
Gentle dandelions from alongside the road
Petunias from the yard and restraining orchids

  • 1. I think it simply implies that the woman is rather young, at least a lot younger compared to the singer since in the next line it's said that the singer is super old.
  • 2. "Tukka takana, eläny kauan" indicates to a Finnish song called "Tukka takana, elämä edessä" by Mikko Alatalo basically meaning that the hair's on fleek and life's ahead. But in this song, it represents the fact that the singer has lived long and is old, again.
  • 3. "Mä elämäst laulan" are famous lyrics from another Finnish song, "Olen suomalainen" by Kari Tapio. Shortly, Tapio sings in his song about sad things such as loneliness, tears, forbidden love, and unluckiness.
  • 4. Meaning that when he's singing about life, it'll only be gloomy.
  • 5. You can most likely figure out that I have no clue what this part could mean and I just straightly translated it as it was and yes, it doesn't make more sense in English. :'D
  • 6. He sings "Tein lepästä keihään, ammuin yli" which has a hidden Finnish saying behind it, "kuin leppäkeihäs" that means "very quickly" or "before you know it", but actually I'm not sure if it has anything to do with this line. But after reading the whole verse I think it could mean that he wanted to stop cheating on his wife yet before he knew it he was at it again.
  • 7. "Vannon kautta kukkaputiikin" is a modified Finnish saying (orig. vannon kautta kiven ja kannon = I swear over a rock and a stump) and it says the 'kukkaputiikin' (=flower shop) instead since the man kept breaking the woman's trust by cheating on her and now he could literally empty a whole flower shop just to make her forgive him. But I just changed it to the English saying since I couldn't come up with anything better.
  • 8. Heikki is a member in Teflon Brothers.
  • 9. I had no idea what the Marko Asell could mean. I Googled his name and the answer was that he's a Finnish politician and an ex-wrestler but that didn't really give me any more information so I thought maybe the door just has a strong lock since wrestlers are strong... :D

WOW! Thank you so, so much for the quick, excellent translation and the incredibly insightful commentary! I love the "restraining orchids" pun, what a great translation :)

As for the "Tuon muitaki rehuja ku suussani sammalii" part: I don't speak any Finnish so I am most certainly not an authority on this, but when I read your translation I thought that he might be referring to fertilizer? Some people use peat moss in their gardens. So I thought it was along the lines of "I'll enrich your life much more than only moss would enrich a garden" or, essentially, "I can bring many positive things into your life". I don't know if that fits at all with the Finnish original, but I thought I'd throw the idea out anyway :'D

Once again thank you so much! I'm so happy to finally know what this song really means lol

Thank you for requesting the translation in the first place! I'm extremely glad to hear my thoughts on the translation and especially the song title weren't wasted. :)

Oh, I hadn't even thought about fertilizer! It's an odd line and I couldn't really grasp it based on the lines around it either. Well, you wouldn't know but the word "rehuja" in the line could most likely mean the food you give to animals so I hadn't thought that it could be for plants too. :D But if talking with honesty I kind of cut the English translation short since my understanding of the Finnish line wasn't very good in the first place (even though I'm a native speaker... xD) In the very straight translation it would be mentioned that he has the moss in his mouth, which to me sounded a bit creepy and I wasn't sure of it since it really made zero sense so I just skipped that part. Now that might have just confused you even more but I really like your way of interpreting my clumsy translation. :D
