Tormentor

My forehead on the ground1in your direction,Kaaba2is all shut down
No longer need a Hajj3pilgrim,religiously circled you too many rounds
I'm glancing in all directions, my prayer is not sound45

You put me in chain, [and] make me even more liberated
You inflict me no wounds, to make me [even] more afflicted
I denounce all [beliefs], hoping to me your belief is shifted6

My heart so lovingly tunes to your uttering
Next to you, all my wanderings are a pilgrim’s travelling
I'm suffering pain, but paining me is not a sin
With you as tormentor, no wrong have I seen

  • 1. Muslims put their forehead on the ground in daily prayers a number of times. They say prayers facing toward Kabba, Muslim's holy building in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This act is also considered a symbolic act of subordination
  • 2. a building at the center of Islam's most important mosque, the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
  • 3. an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. The person who commits the Hajj to Mecca has to circle around the Kaaba and to offer sacrifices
  • 4. void, not whole. Looking at other directions than the prescribed direction during a Muslim's daily prayer can make it religiously void
  • 5. Same rhyming pattern as the original lyrics
  • 6. Lit. believe in me
