Waar Is De Paracetamol

Welkom bij drogisterij Het Zere Bolletje
Doe mij tien bier en twee paracetamol
Hoeveel?
Tien bier en twee paracetamol
(Paracetamol)
Hoeveel?
(Paracetamol)

Weer lekker vol
Gelachen en gezongen wat een lol
Oh jongens wat een lol
Maar later op de avond
Je raad het zeker al
Ik kon haast niet meer lopen
Oh ik was echt als een bal
Waar, waar, waar, waar

Waar is de paracetamol?
Ik heb een kater op m'n bol
En dat komt door de alcohol
Waar is de paracetamol?
Waar is de paracetamol?
Ik heb een kater op m'n bol
Maar ik wil vanavond aan de rol
Tien bier en twee paracetamol

Waar is de paracetamol?
(Paracetamol)
Paracetamol
(Paracetamol)
Paracetamol

Waar is de paracetamol?
Ik heb een kater op m'n bol
En dat komt door de alcohol
Waar is de paracetamol?
Waar is de paracetamol?
Ik heb een kater op m'n bol
Maar ik wil vanavond aan de rol
Tien bier en twee paracetamol
Tien bier en twee paracetamol

Where's the Paracetamol?

Welcome to the pharmacy The Painful Noggin1
Bring me ten beers and two paracetamol2
How many?
Ten beers and two paracetamol
(Paracetamol)
How many?
(Paracetamol)

Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
And it's because of the alcohol
Where's the paracetamol?
Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
But tonight I want to go out and party
Ten beers and two paracetamol

Where's the paracetamol?
Oh what a party, the pub was full again
Nice and full again
We laughed and sang, what great fun
Oh lads what great fun
But later on in the evening
You'll have guessed it by now
I was almost completely legless3
Oh I was completely rat-arsed4
Where, where, where, where

Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
And it's because of the alcohol
Where's the paracetamol?
Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
But tonight I want to go out and party
Ten beers and two paracetamol

Where's the paracetamol?
(Paracetamol)
Paracetamol
(Paracetamol)
Paracetamol

Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
And it's because of the alcohol
Where's the paracetamol?
Where's the paracetamol?
I have a hangover in my noggin
But tonight I want to go out and party
Ten beers and two paracetamol
Ten beers and two paracetamol

  • 1. I've used British slang here for head as the Dutch lyrics use a slang word for head
  • 2. Tylenol
  • 3. Too drunk to walk
  • 4. again using British slang for completely drunk to mirror the Dutch

This is one of those songs that belongs to the Dutch Carnival songs genre. It's mainly and uniquely a phenomenon in Brabant and Limburg (the parts where traditionally Catholicism has a stronghold) and is celebrated there lavishly. So the three days before Lent are celebrated with copious amounts of alcohol, food and fancy dress and tend to go on for those full three days, day and night. The season itself starts on the 11th of November at 11:11am when the local Prince Carnival is elected (11 being considered the number of craziness). It's also traditional at least in Brabant that towns and villages will change their name for those three days.

I've used British slang here to mirror the Dutch slang and have tried to explain it in the footnotes.
