Songs featured in films during Mexico's Golden Age of Cinema

Songs featured or made for films during Mexico's Golden Age of Cinema. The songs listed will if possible feature the artist who sang them. If the song was added to another artist but has the original singer from the film as a 'Also performed by' then that song will be added but with a video to the original in the description. Songs from the years 1931 to 1964 (although some will argue that it started in '36 and I have featured artists from before that in '33, this list will include those from '31 and onward to '64).

🎵 = Music credits
🎥 = IMDb
🎞️ = Video clip of the song performed in the film.1
✏️ = Notes or trivia about the song.
❓ = Title, artist, credits unknown.

  • 1. If the song is already on LT under a different artist then that song will be added and in the description a video clip of the song being performed in the film will be added in its place. If there is no additional video in the description, then the video you see on the song page is from the film itself. If no video clip is available, then it will be stated in the description as well.

Most of these songs are not identified in the credits, some I already know of because I've seen a good chunk of the films. If anyone is curious, I'm rewatching films from this era and identifying each song by ear, if the song has no lyrics anywhere online I will transcribe them and add them to LT. Only songs with lyrics will be added, any melodies in these films (which are actual songs with lyrics but are only featured as instrumentals) will not be featured in this collection.

I added the first song but this song is not from that film, there is no such film where Pedro Infante starred in that's called "Historia de un amor".

So it wasn't performed by Pedro Infante, that's what it said in your comment. And there's another film by a similar name "Historia de un gran amor" from 1942 with Jorge Negrete :) I'll add the one by Libertad Lamarque then.

I just like the fulfillment of Pedro Infante :) And Jorge could not sing this song in 1942. It was written in 1955 :)

I was saying the title was similar (the name of the film) not that Jorge had sung it (although that would have been wonderful to hear) and I too agree that Pedro's rendition is lovely :)
