Songs written by Joan Baez

Joan Baez started her career singing mostly traditional folk songs, then moving on interpreting the songs of songwriters like Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Malvina Reynolds or Bob Dylan.
But she is also a songwriter herself, her poetry being far from "lousy". Wink smile
Many of her songs are autobiographical.

I love everything about her, but this collection is exclusively about songs written by her. Wink smile

I know, my friends, these are all great songs, but not written by Joan Baez...

the song for Sascha is not about Germany (in general) but about the Holocaust and about the the town of Heidelberg, where the protagonist studied. To be more precise it contains thoughts and memories of a Holocaust survivor who is torn between the love for the country which is his home and the memory of an inconceivable crime committed against his (Jewish) people which happened in the very same country.
A better caption would be something containing keywords like Holocaust, genocide and maybe survivors of Nazi-crimes, or at least (the darkest chapter of) German history.

The altar boy and the thief is an unprejudiced look on gay life.

Marie Flore is a song about a French girl whom Joan Baez met on a concert tour through France.

Thanks for the collection.
