Dein Leben kannte keine Stille,

The painter on his way to work

Death, a train only to the stars
That you loved, far away
That you painted with passion.

From the dark shadow of your dead brother
Into which they had pushed you
You wanted to escape with all your might.

You were never a petty-minded person
Born to be a maverick
How many things you tried!

You were a teacher, homeless on the streets
You were dismissed as a priest
The man, who searches for truth.

You wanted to create a paradise
You let yourself be viewed as a lunatic
The ear was just the smallest pain.

Your brother couldn't bear it
He too suffered without ever complaining
Just shortly after you, his heart broke then.

Your life knew no stillness
Full of passion and will to live
The others took it for simply madness.

Only then can peace begin
When nothing more, nothing more at all is inside
In which a person can still rest.

Thank you, roterFaden, especially the last part, the most important one, is very good. I like it! 👍

Vera, talk to your brethren - how about some more entries?!
Thanks a lot for the poem, painting, and to RF for the translation.

I will do what I can, but there a some new poems in your wonderful collection I wish to translate - and there are still some of your poems, I haven't translated yet... Moreover I am working on a monster-project, I hope I can put it in by the end of september. By the way - what happens to your "Sapphire's Palace"? Come on, Deanna, "you can get it if you really want, oh yeah..." - I am waiting for it! :)

I can't concentrate on Saphire. It takes time. I am not working today because I'm taking the medicinal absinthe drink - humor. Lol.

>"Aus toten Bruders dunklem Schatten," =
From the dark shadow of your dead brother
(Es ist 2. Fall; Genitiv. Aus wessen Schatten? Aus dem Schatten des Bruders)

>"Ein Krämer bist Du nie gewesen," - "Krämer" stands here for a petty-minded person

>"Zum Außenseiter auserlesen," alt.: Born to be a maverick
