Wet Backs
I have left my home, they are chasing me
and I don't know what's wrong with me
I go without a passport and without a visa,
I sail against the current and the breeze
and if I make it to the riverside
I will have my back and my mat wet,
yoy will be my shelter,
how long and sad is this quimera.
Wait for me, life was very hard there,
on the other side,
I will get there, don't think I've forgotten you
No, don't despair no.
I'm crossing the river, you know I love you
there isn't much money, I've had a bad time.
And if I have steel gets me, 1
remind me how I've been on the battle
that I have been brave and honest
please, keep my hat,
life was very hard there.
Wait for me, life was very hard there, on the other side,
I will get there, don't think I've forgotten you
No, don't despair no.
I'm crossing the river, you know I love you
there isn't much money, I've had a bad time.
If something happens to me,
don't forget my star is not from this world of the living
but the cause, I tell you, always exists where there's a friend.
I'm crossing the river, you know I love you
there isn't much money, I've had a bad time.
You love me, I love you
You love me, I love you
There is no money

I am aware that the title of this song is considered a derrogatory term in the USA to reference Latin American immigrants that entered the country crossing the Río Grande (and therefore getting wet). I decided to keep it because this song is making a reference to these immigrants who have to leave their home to try and find a better place to live without knowing if they'll survive in order to make money. Also, there wasn't that many alternative words to these two words.
