Ode d'automne. La plage de Colette.

La Touesse, * le soir.
Le sable est brun profond.
L'impression est étrange.

On s'imagine voir
Tout plein d'amis qui font
des agapes, qui mangent

boivent, rient, font la fête ..
Au milieu d'eux, Colette..

Piqueniques joyeux,
Attirant les curieux
Qui s'offusquaient des jambes
nues de cette bande
de femmes en goguette,
aux moeurs audacieuses.

La Touesse, le soir
est un petit miroir
de cette Belle Epoque
où surent faire bloc
quelques discrètes femmes,
parfois vues comme infâmes,
pour devenir plus libres,
en étant plus visibles.

Le soir, à Saint-Coulomb,
L'impression est bizarre..
Mes rêves, plus profonds..

Je rentre, il se fait tard.
Derrière moi se font
et se défont de longs

songes sur l'écrivaine,
heureuse, enfin, à Roz Ven.

Anmärkning:

La Touesse is a small beach in St Coulomb, France, near St Malo.
Roz Neven is the name of Colette's house, still there, a hundred yards before the beach.

Autumn ode. Colette's beach.

La Touesse, in the evening
The sand is a deep brown.
The feeling rather strange..

One starts musing about
lots of friends partying
revelling, having fun,

drinking and saying when..
Colette, in the middle of them..

All those merry picknicks
that attracted locals
minding those naked legs
that this too gleeful women's
band was showing them,
who, for them, misbehaved.

La Touesse, at evenings,
is a little mirror
of that Belle Epoque time
when some women sided
together, even classified
as a bit infamous,
to become, at last , freer
by daring to show their bodies.

At night, in St Coulomb,
The impression is strange..
my dreams a bit deeper.

I must go back, it's late..
Behind my back whirl up

some dreams on the woman
happy, down here, at Roz Ven.

Tack!
