Översättning

Grant a beautiful showl

Grant a beautiful shawl, azure blue piece of cloth,
With an ornament edge and with golden swirls .
I will never hide it, I will wear your gift,
Nobody would know that you’d give it to me.

Ice will cover the banks, and you’ll be far away,
And I know a shawl’s not a ring anyway,
But I won’t feel alone, and the grief won’t be strong,
Then the days will be short and the nights won’t be long.

If at dark cruel night or in sunny daytime
You'll forget everything, that connects our lives,
I won’t ask you of reason, I won’t say: ‘Why, my dear?’
I will take off the shawl with a knot made by me.

Nice rhyming translation!
You have a small typo in the title though, and the language is Russian instead of English

If you don't mind me asking, I don't really get the last line.
I thought she would tie a knot to her scarf, as a reminder of his unfaithfulness?
Or is there another symbolic meaning to this knot?
At any rate, I don't see where the Russian says that she will take off the scarf.
I must be misunderstanding something.

Thank you for noticing my absentmindedness. I now corrected.
About the last line. There is a Russian expression: "to tie a knot for memory." That is, the knot is knitted so that it interferes and all the time reminds of something. Most often people do it on the corner of the handkerchief.
In the song, the woman tells the man, who for some reason can not marry her (secret love), that if he falls out of love with her and leaves, then she will tie such a knot on the shawl he gave her, because she wants to save the memory of their love. But of course, she wouldn't wear this shawl then, because the knot will ruin the beauty of the thing.
Russian people understaand all this, but I do not know how to explain it to foreigners in one line, . A literal translation seems to be impossible, so I added a little from myself. Maybe it didn't work out so well...

Thank you for the comprehensive explanation. I think it will please Russian enthusiasts.
In English, "to tie the knot" is a way of saying "to get married" so this image might be a bit confusing.
