Telegrama is a masculine noun (see the Spanish Royal Academy's dictionary of the Spanish language, the relevant page is http://dle.rae.es/?id=ZMW6zM1). "-grama" is one of the Greek words ending in "a" that (like día) that are used in Spanish, which are all masculine.

I misread your first comment, thinking that I always use "un" with telegrama (etcetera) and you were saying I should use "una". Your second comment made me actually look to see if I had written "una" insted of "un", and yes, I had, twice. So thanks for waking me up on that. I don't know what got into me to make me add that "a".
