Hello everyone! Living in the Lorraine region in France, where are spoken the Lorraine Franconian (lothrìnger Plàtt / francique lorrain / Lothringisch (Fränkisch)) group of dialects divided into four principal varieties: Luxembourgish (that is present on this website), Moselle Franconian, Rhine Franconian, and, only spoken in Germany, Ripuarian. As a learner of the Rhine Franconian variety and gathering songs and poems in the Moselle and Rhine Franconian varieties especially, I'd be most glad to provide them here on the websites along with translations that I'll make into French, German, and English. To do so though, I'd need them to figure in the list of the languages and dialects of the website. Thanks for reading. :)
Add Germanic dialects on the list
Hiya.
You can check the website's language list here.
The German dialects currently present are:
-German (Austrian/Bavarian);
-German (Berlinerisch dialect);
-German (central dialects);
-German (Kölsch);
-German (Low German);
-German (Middle High German);
-German (Old High German);
-German (Plautdietsch);
-German (Swiss-German/Alemannic);
In order for a new category to be added, we need to have at least three contents (songs or translation, better if they're songs) in said language.
Also please check this forum thread. It'll be easier to signal there your new additions asking for the new category/ categories to be created.
Have a good day.
What about the list of music genres? I know you have Latin but that is very broad. I would like, just as you have cumbia, the site to add salsa (timba) and son or Cuban, mariachi, bolero, the major, most popular genres. I know you can't list every kind of Latin American music.
Can we search by genre or is genre only for adding a new artist?
I don't know how it works for genres. You should talk to a mod or to the admins about that.
If you want to search by genre, click here. Pop is given as the default genre, but if you click "Select different genre", you can choose the genre you want.
There isn't a 'gender search' available currently, but via https://lyricstranslate.com/en/artists you can list artists by their genre(s).
As for new additions, it was decided that only more popular entries would be added as to avoid confusions. 'Anthems' was created to hold, as the name implies, anthems (national, of soccer teams, etc.).
Hello!
Luxembourgish (that is present on this website), Moselle Franconian, Rhine Franconian, and, only spoken in Germany, Ripuarian.
All these are (West) Central German dialects, so please put them into that category ("German (central dialects)"), except for the Luxembourgish ones. Ripuarian is also quite close to Kölsch (or Kölsch is a special form of Ripuarian), so those ones might fit in that category, too.
Looking forward to your contributions!
@BreezyDay: The admins once mentioned that they won't add new genres to the list.
As for new additions, it was decided that only more popular entries would be added as to avoid confusions. 'Anthems' was created to designate those artists that don't actually fit any other genre.
Oh, it's for that? I never used that one.
I actually meant it's a category that speaks for its own. Will rephrase my last comment now...
Sorry.
No reason for saying sorry ^^

Yeah, it's for national anthems, soccer anthems etc., isn't it?
I don't blame them one bit. It would be an enormous undertaking. But can you imagine how fantastic that would be?
I think I already asked this but I can't remember. If I search for Collections, how far back will it search? For example, two years ago, three years ago?

It would make it even more difficult to find which genres apply - the admins' argument was that the list is already too long and unwieldy and I would agree.

Probably as far back as possible - and collections have only been added for slightly more than 1 year anyway.
Okay, thanks Sciera and Alma Barroca. And sorry to Theagnach_dh for interrupting his/her forum. I probably should have created a separate one.
