Hi to the whole community,

I decided to leave a message on the forum to submit the request to add provençal language on the lyricstranslate languages' list.
I saw Occitan is already available on the website, and I even did some translation from/to this language. However, provençal being a sister language of "Occitan" (spoken from Toulouse to Montpellier in France), my translations were not the best (I unfortunately can speak provençal, and my occitan knowledge is limited).
I would like to use this platform to promote, on my scale, provençal language, submitting some translations in this language, my regional language.
I hope this is a possibility and that my future sharing of some provençal translation will make people discover this beautiful language, and make provençal people see the language of their parents or grandparents remains alive.

Thanks to you all !!

Hi, there.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll notify the admins about it, but we ask users to provide a list of content that is in the language they want added. ~3 lyrics and/or translations would be fair enough for them to add it.

Thank you. Admins were informed.

Would it be correct to name the language 'Occitan (Provençal)'?

Here more informations about Provençal

wiki : Provençal (/ˌprɒvɒ̃ˈsɑːl/, also UK: /-sæl/,[5] US: /ˌproʊ-, -vən-/; Occitan: Provençau or Prouvençau [pʀuvenˈsaw]) is a variety of Occitan spoken by a minority of people in Southern France, mostly in Provence. In the English-speaking world, the term Provençal has historically also been used to refer to all of Occitan, but is now mainly understood to refer to the variety spoken in Provence.[6][7]....

Dialects :
Occitan is fundamentally defined by its dialects, rather than being a unitary language. That point is very conflictual in Southern France, as many people do not recognize Occitan as a real language and think that the next defined "dialects" are languages.[49] Like other languages that fundamentally exist at a spoken, rather than written, level (e.g. the Rhaeto-Romance languages, Franco-Provençal, Astur-Leonese, and Aragonese), every settlement technically has its own dialect, with the whole of Occitania forming a classic dialect continuum that changes gradually along any path from one side to the other. Nonetheless, specialists commonly divide Occitan into six main dialects:

Gascon: includes the Béarnese and Aranese (spoken in Spain).
Languedocien (lengadocian)
Limousin (lemosin)
Auvergnat (auvernhat)
Provençal (provençau or prouvençau), including the Niçard subdialect.
Shuadit language
Vivaro-Alpine (vivaroaupenc), also known as "Alpine" or "Alpine Provençal", and sometimes considered a subdialect of Provençal

It's been suggested in that name. In case lyrics in the subdialects pop, then we might consider relabeling the entry.

I think Occitan (provençal) could be a possible way, yes. Even if the use of provençal language in the provençal speaking regions is never considered as "Occitan". Whereas Languedocien, Auvergnat, Limousin .... usually call themselves Occitan, it's more uncommon for Gascon and Provençal.
Occitan is, as you could see on the wikipedia page, not really a language, but more like a general way to call the different languages of southern France, Val d'Aran dialect and Dialects of Italian Valleys. Those dialects were usually mentionned as Lengas d'Òc, and Occitan is quite a modern term.
Provençal however could be considered as a different language, considering its writing system has taken a different path from the XIX and XX century, after the writing 'reforms' of Frédéric Mistral, that developped a writing system for Provençal (norma mistralenca) 'Mistral norm', whereas the rest of 'Occitan dialects' kept the 'norma clasica' (classic norm)

Of coure I leave to the admins the choice between Provençal and Occitan (provençal), as I believe they have enough knowledge about it all.

Thanks guys for your answers !
