Sonnet 66 (Napolice çevirisi)

Sonnet 66

Tired with all these, for restful death I cry,
As, to behold desert a beggar born,
And needy nothing trimm'd in jollity,
And purest faith unhappily forsworn,
And guilded honour shamefully misplaced,
And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,
And right perfection wrongfully disgraced,
And strength by limping sway disabled,
And art made tongue-tied by authority,
And folly doctor-like controlling skill,
And simple truth miscall'd simplicity,
And captive good attending captain ill:
Tired with all these, from these would I be gone,
Save that, to die, I leave my love alone.

Yazarın yorumları:

Questo sonetto è di così bruciante attualità che mi sno permesso di usare un linguaggio un po' "plebeo".

Wow, what a symmetry of poetic phrases, what a pace, what an inner rhythm, an inner anger...
Your taste in poems is unbelievable!

Hmm.. one can’t go wrong with the taste for Shakespeare…

Thanks for your lovely comments. Thinking about today's world, the words came out of my heart.
Is it possible that after half a millennium nothing has changed for the better?

It’s difficult to see much improvement, and it’s outright depressing some days, but I still believe that the good will prevail. Because it has to.
