I used to know songs from this movie by heart as a teen. Never knew it was Marina who sang for A.S - she was not much on the air and passed by almost unnoticed.
Where does your Russian come from, Kevin? Is it family rooted or acquired? I hope it's not too private a question to put in the comments Teeth smile But your choice of Russian songs to translate - including ethno-folk which may sound specific even to a Russian ear - amazes me sometimes to the point that I wonder if there's a cultural background for that or is it just a matter of incidental resonance, or linguistic exercise or whatever.

Not at all too private. You can ask me anything. Thank you for coming by and noticing my choices.
I guess I would say my Russian - or my clumsy attempt at Russian - comes mainly from two things "luck" and "inspiration" - the luck of living in a time where a non-native speaker can experience constant examples of the real language through myriad video and audio (at sites like youtube and this site) and the inspiration from so many great artists who bring out the best of the language.

"пустое место" is an attribute diminishing someone as insignificant or useless. While here this "someone" is in question, part of an opposition "someone - no one": is he a real being or not?

Doesn't sound too bad. But why specifically "space" instead of the more literal "sound". I usually prefer a more literal translation, except when a literal translation sounds too clumsy.
