Orijinal şarkı sözleri
La loca de amor
En los anchos de montes frondosos
do la vida pasara el paisano,
vaga sola en el suelo pampeano
una loca con lánguida faz;
esta loca que, en tiempos pasados,
habitara en las horas de amores,
hoy esparce sus tiernos clamores
en la Pampa que duerme en la paz.
Esa gentil escultura,
que a la Virgen fue copiada,
hoy ya se encuentra bañada
por un profundo dolor;
la magnánima dulzura
de su voz, casi no suena
y, al sonar, pinta la pena
que le ha causado el amor.
A los rayos del sol que iluminan,
el sendero que va atravesando
con su llanto lo va tapizando
que en torrentes le brota al llorar;
El cabello, en los hombros reposa.
Es su boca color rubicela
y, en su talle gentil de gacela,
lo sublime que deja extasiar.
Llámase Lola la loca,
del paisano condolida;
y, en el pago, conocida
por una "loca de amor".
A Marcelo le quería,
pero la patria adorada
lo llamó cuando, ultrajada
se vio por el invasor.

Madwoman In Love
In the wide, lushly wooded hills
Where our countryman spent his life,
Threads, all alone, on the soil of the Pampas
A madwoman with a languid expression;
This madwoman who, in the distant past
Enjoyed hours filled with love,
Today scatters her tender laments
Across the Pampa, which sleeps in peace.
That gentle sculpture,
Which was copied from the Virgin Mary herself,
In today lost
In a very deep pain;
The majestic sweetness
Of her voice, barely sounds;
And yet, as it rings, it releases the grief
That love has brought to her.
Under the warm rays of the sun,
The path that she is threading
Is being covered by her tears,
Which emerge in torrents from her sorrow;
Her hair rests on her shoulders.
Her mouth is brightly red
And, with her gentle waist is gazelle-like;
The most sublime (beauty) remains enthralled.
The madwoman's name is Lola,
And she mourns our countryman;
And she's known around the region
As the "madwoman in love".
She loved Marcelo,
But the adored Motherland
Called him when, violated
It was by a foreign invader.

The lyrics to this song are directly lifted from the magnificent 1940 poem "La Loca de Amor", written by Ricardo Juan Podestá. The music is a very old 19th Century tune, which was elaborated upon and refined by Enrique Caviglia in 1939, who is usually quoted as its composer. Please, note that the poem itself is much longer, and the song repeats its first verses twice.
