Por el camino adelante
Es la hora agonizante
de un crepúsculo violeta,
va marchando la carreta
por el camino adelante.
Cruza un pájaro agorero
sobre los campos silentes,
y una canción entre dientes
va entonando el carretero.
Sobre nidales de esparto
se ponen las aves presas,
relucen como turquesas
los ojos de los lagartos...
Y en la hora agonizante,
tras la carreta, una moza
marcha mientras que solloza
por el camino adelante:
¡Déjame subir al carro... carretero!
¡Déjame subir al carro... que me muero!...
Mira que voy muy cansada,
que hace mucho que camino,
mira que marcho sin tino
desde que fue la alborada,
he recorrido senderos...
he echado por el atajo,
monte arriba... monte abajo,
sin pedir a los cabreros
un descanso en los apriscos...
Sin implorar con mis quejas
la leche de sus ovejas,
hiriéndome entre los riscos,
bebiendo en las cristalinas
aguas de los manantiales...
Me han clavado los zarzales,
sus espinas... sus espinas.
~
Carretero, oye mis quejas...
caigo en tierra y me levanto,
pronto no podré hacer tanto
si en el camino me dejas.
Carretero de Avilés...
me han herido los zarzales,
los mastines y riscales,
llevo sangrando los pies,
toda manchada de barro...
de mis fuerzas nada espero:
¡Déjame subir al carro,
carretero... que me muero!...
Cae la moza sollozante
y otra vez vuelve a caer,
comienza el cielo a llover
mientras la noche adelanta.
La moza gime y se inquieta,
el carretero no escucha
porque ella entre el barro lucha
y está lejos la carreta.
Cae la moza sollozante
sin poderse levantar,
va el carro en su caminar
por el camino adelante
y la moza en el sendero
llora caída en el barro:
¡Déjame subir al carro... carretero!
¡Déjame subir al carro... que me muero!...

Переклад
By the road ahead
It's the dying time
of a violet twilight
the cart is going
by the road ahead
A doomsayer bird
crosses the silent fields,
and the cart driver sings
a song in his teeth
Over nests made of esparto
the stuck birds rest
the eyes of the lizards
glow like turquoises
And in the dying time
behind the cart, a maiden
walks while crying
by the road ahead:
Let me get on the cart... cart driver!
Let me get on the cart... I'm dying!
Look that I'm so tired
that I've been walking for so long
that I'm walking aimlessly
since the dawn ended,
I've gone through paths...
I've gone through shortcuts,
uphill... downhill,
without asking to the goat herders
for a rest in the sheepfolds...
Without begging with my moans
the milk of their sheep,
hurting myself among the cliffs,
drinking in the crystal clear
waters of the springs...
The brambles nailed in me,
their thorns...their thorns.
~
Cart driver, hear my moans...
I fall on the ground and I get up,
soon I won't be able to do too much
if you leave me on the road.
Cart driver of Avilés...
I've been hurt by the brambles,
the mastiffs and the cliffs,
my feet are bleeding,
I'm all stained in mud...
I expect nothing from my strength:
Let me get on the cart,
cart driver... I'm dying!
The maiden falls crying
and she falls again,
the sky begins to rain
while the night goes on.
The maiden moans and is anxious,
the cart driver doesn't listen
because she's struggling in the mud
and the cart is far.
The maiden falls crying
and she can't get up,
the cart goes on
by the road ahead
and the maiden in the path
cries fallen in the mud:
Let me get on the cart... cart driver!
Let me get on the cart... I'm dying!
