They called him King
In the town of the Holy Tower1.
I remember from the primary school
His kissing with the Pope.
The Secretary2 also came,
When they cut the ribbon.
Kingy played hooky
To dream about something else.
He’s always stood a bit aside,
Not quite in sync;
At school nobody knew,
What King really live on.
That was a bit later.
He already had a girlfriend, Eva,
So they lived together, unmarried,
In sweet poverty.
Sometimes they were on a high
Because they liked light drugs.
A lot of friends were coming
In the evening and in the morning.
"Watch out for your neighbours
Because they like to tip off.
You know who rules in this town:
Here the bishop and the chief of police are king!"
That’s what he was told,
By the tall, skinny Lolo,
When they went out into the street
To smoke spliff3 with coke.
"I’m fed up with this town,
The red and black mafia4.
Do you understand me, Lolo?
Do you know, what’s bothering me?"
Meanwhile, the pale Eva
Wants to explain everything,
Because the chief entered through the window,
And the bishop crawled out from under the bed.
"What do you have in your pocket, King?",
Asked the chief, standing in the door.
"You keep on smoking this shit.
We’ve had many complaints".
And the bishop glances from the side
From King to Eva and back.
"You live here ungodly,
You think I don’t know anything.
For being in possession of weed
You’ll get ten years;
For an illegal relationship with her –
Some more years behind the bars".
Now Kingy sits in a jail cell
And thinks back to the good days.
He’s written to the Pope
A very long letter.
He’s sent a Christmas5 card
To the President,
But nobody talks about him anymore,
Nobody remembers him.
He’s always stood a bit aside,
Not quite in sync;
Nobody really knew,
What King really lived on.

A difficult translation because of lots of colloquialisms and slang in the original text. Sorry if my translation is not stellar.
